Still getting started
I came across this advert:

<Broken link removed>

for a very small campervan that was being offered as a room - with no option to drive the campervan away. In other words, the owner has placed it near/on a camp site and then rents the space out via AirBnB. Interesting - and they have clearly had pleased takers, from the reviews.

In this case they needed the campsite as their van has absolutely no facilities (other than a bed). But it started me thinking: rather than rent our motorhome out in the traditional way (you drive it where you want etc) we could park it up in a nice location close to where we live, and then rent it as an "entire flat" on AirBnB - lower price than a full rental, perhaps, but lower risk/hassle as well.

This couple are charging £28/night for their campervan. Typical motorhomes that you can drive away rent for around £120-£150/day. So even if you only charged c£50-75/night for a static motorhome, that's a lot better than nothing!

In fact you could extend the concept - and offer a range of "static" locations for customers to choose from depending on e.g. whether they want to be close to the centre of a town, or close to countryside activities. For a short stay (e.g. a weekend) the on-board facilities should be fine without worrying about fresh water/electricity/waste disposal - otherwise we'd have to periodically visit during the stay (which is less appealing).

Another option might be to park it in a campsite as well - like this example - then the renter has the choice of using the campsite facilities or not.

What do you think?

I think it's a waste of a van. You'd be better of building a chalet or a glamping tent.

Edit. What about MOT failure scrap vans, that would be a new lease of life for them(y)

Campsite fees and insurance and wear and tear would soon make a hole in £28 a night.
