I have read the stories about repaired ECUs failing again. Has anyone had a repaired one last over a year?
My garage who I'm sure is trying to help me save money, has said that he has replaced a number of repaired ones without any problems.
I'm not sure where I could go to get a new one fitted - any recommendations?

After I got it back from CrashData, I refitted my repaired ECU module on 14 March 2021.

The dash warning light has stayed off, so it seems to be working OK.

Do Crashdata do any repairs (with a soldering iron type thing) or is it just that they have access to the ECU brains to reset it through electrical witchcraft?

AFAIK they reinstall the firmware in the EEPROM in the module. Not always possible if the module is fried.

PS this geek jargon is not something I understand ...

Got mine repaired by Crashdata in Liverpool in September 2020 and refitted it myself. Still working 🤞 🤞 🤞 and touch wood.

Any Fiat professional garage should be able to obtain and fit a new one, as long as Fiat have not run out of them again.

I got a new unit from crashdata. Different serial number so maybe a better design. 18 months in and no problems. A battery master is also helping keep the battery charged properly.

I appreciate that I'm stating the obvious but we're more likely to read posts from those whose repaired airbag senor circuitry has failed again.
Yes, that's why I asked this question.

My nearest fiat dealer in Chelmsford doesn't do motorhomes, so it's a case of how far would I have to travel to get it done.

Is it only Fiats, or do Peugeot/Citroen vans suffer with these ECU problems?
I think, from what I have read over the years its mainly MY 2017/18 vans that have been affected, maybe some later ones but not so many. Then recently I think I read that the new full price replacement ones have a different part number, so maybe Fiat realised there was a problem and corrected it, without of course admitting liability for those that went wrong outside the 2 year warranty.:swear:
As you can tell I have been thinking a lot about this.:giggle:

D salmon at Weeley Essex used to be a Fiat dealer and did have the facilities to service motorhomes , they did some work on my unit And I was very satisfie. They became a Subaru dealer but when I came past them last week and im sure I saw a Fiat flag on the forecourt.
Just a thought

No, my Peugeot Elddis '68 plate went last year. It has a Fiat Air Bag ECU. Now has a new replacement Fiat unit with the newer serial number. Only 1 year warranty though unless it's fitted to a Fiat base vehicle.

My crashhdata repair (firmware reboot) was still ok after 15 months when I changed for a newer motorhome. Yes I would use them again.
