Since I fitted my Dunlop Air Assist we’ve managed a couple of day trips to the coast so I now have an idea what it drives like. First time out I ran it with 30 lbs / sq inch and it certainly feels more car like and the rear end takes speed bumps better. Second time out I stayed with that pressure on the way there but did notice a bit of buffeting from lorries on the motorway , so before setting off home I increased the pressure to 38 lbs / sq inch and it feels even better now.

What pressures do others run at ?

Autotrail Apache 700 running at around 3800 kgs.

We are still experimenting, 32psi is the current setting and that has given us almost 2.5cm extra ride height and a difference in handling.
Will play in a few more miles and try and find what seems best.

2.5 bar

Between 2.5 to 3 bar (36 psi - 43 psi) on ours and if it's windy and blowing us around are a bit, then I up it to 3 bar. We are rated at 3850 and are pretty close to that loaded.

Just checked mine 1st time in 2 years it’s on zero do they need checking regularly?

Trucks run at around 9-10 bar, but have a levelling device. I have always adjusted any air suspension bags to run in the middle of their length of travel, that way they won't fully extend and rip the bag or depress and damage the cone.
In my view, any air suspension should have a levelling device, that way it will always stay at the same height, regardless of load. An over ride adjuster can then be fitted for levelling etc when on site.
And yes they do wear and go pop ! Also been known to have the odd leak or two.

You may not have done the bellows any good, you are not supposed to run them with no air in the bellows.

I run mine at about 3 bar

Carthago running at 4800kg

Rear axle 2700kg

40psi on 3620kg total weight with 2080kg on the rear axle. Seems nice and stable do far. 👍

We usually run close tro MAUW of 3850kg - I've experimented and found 50 psi (don't do these fancy bar things) works best.

Mine's fitted with a pressure gauge so it's easy to keep an eye on the pressure. It does gradually lose a few psi over a period but I also carry a pump which restores it in seconds.

We had it fitted 9 years ago and never had any problems with it.
