I have decided to get Air suspension fitted to the van, Mercedes based coachbuilt. I wonder if anyone knows a reliable specialist for air suspension in the North East. I know AS in Cheshire are highly rated, but that would be a 300 mile round trip, which I would do if its thought worthwhile to go there, just thought there may be an air suspension specialist closer to home.

thanks John

You could try Mick Leightley of Specialist Auto Products in Doncaster. Mick is the UK agent for VB Air Suspension and also E&P Hydraulic Levelling. Mick has a wealth of information on both systems for RV's and motorhomes, and comes highly recommended. :thumb:

He's also a Geordie by the way:ROFLMAO:

many many years! since I was a kid
it only takes a couple of hours to install, so prebook a slot and wait whilst its done. another option is to buy the kit from marcle leisure, have it delivered and get a local garage or mobile mechanic to install it. the kit of parts costs about £400

I'm assuming its only a one day job, as you can guess I'm not exactly a mechanical wizard

Yes one day or possibly less depending on the chassis your vehicle has but please do not go on spec as they appear to be busy so book in first.

They will even run you to the local station so that you can spend a thrilling day in Chester

By the way my Rapido handles so much nicer now I have air suspension fitted with an added bonus of being able to use it for van levelling in certain circumstances

Why not give North East Truck and Vans workshop a call at Billingham.
They have a very good engineering department that can do just about anything.
They may be expensive compared to some, but it would save on the fuel for a three hundred mile round trip.
Web site is www.northeasttruckandvan.com and all the info is on there.
Wally Wheeldon is the man to speak to in engineering, but the workshop reception will be very helpful. Just tell them what you want done and which equipment you want fitted.

I have no connection to them, other than having work done to trucks by them.

Had mine fitted by AS four years ago, very professional job.
May be a little more expensive but they know what they are doing and how to do it properly. No contest really. Plenty of people ar fitting air systems but not many can do it without problems. I live in Durham and had a week down the Warrington / Bury area and had it installed then, it took a day and they took us to/from the station.
