Do any Funsters have both?

Am considering VB full air suspension, but wonder will it give enough for levelling on sites or should I also add E&P levelling?

For a decent levelling you really need both as the adjustment on the air suspension is not as good as the levellers themselves.
I'd not be without either of them

VB will provide a modest amount of levelling. You can achieve much more with hydraulic levelling - and there's no rocking.
VB is more for the ride.

So levellers considered more desirable than air suspension?

So levellers considered more desirable than air suspension?

No. It depends what you want. If you want rock steady levelling on rough ground, you’ll need hydraulic rams. Air suspension addresses the ride, first, and then a degree of levelling.

I have had both and, if I could afford the weight, I’d get both again. Air suspension levelling will cope with a decent sideways slope and modest amount fore/aft, but certainly enough to level-off most camp site pitches. It can help avoid catching your rear end on a steep ramp and will aid waste water dumping.

Hydraulic rams will provide much greater level adjustment and tank emptying. The van is also rock solid when the jacks are deployed. Jacks can make wheel changing (or rotation) an easy task and can be an added security measure.

So, although you can do more with air suspension, hydraulic rams are much better for levelling.

Thanks - very helpful. So I guess both add quite a bit of weight?

Expensive?

Oh yes, £10K for both

we have the E + P jacks and air suspension (think it is VB), the 2 are interlinked so the air is dumped before the jacks are deployed, only works with fully auto air suspension which on a Mercedes can only be fitted to the rear axle

Conrad Anderson in Birmingham are your nearest E &P dealer. We went to Blackburn as the deal offered was much better. Just went for hydraulics.

Thanks for all the advice and feedback.

Our motorhome is back at the manufacturers getting some faults sorted in the factory, so when we get it back I think I will go for both.

I guess like most things, pays to shop around even if it means a bit more travelling.

Can it all be done in a day?

It takes about 2-3 days for both jobs.
The people who did my E&P levellers also fitted the VB air suspension.

Robert - who did yours?

http://www.rosmia.co.uk/
They're based in Sussex, but if you look on the VB air suspension site or the E&P levellers site, you'll find a list of local installers

http://www.vbairsuspension.co.uk/en/

http://www.ep-hydraulicsnews.co.uk/

VB and E&P are the two systems commonly used by the motorhome manufacturers, and actually link together, so that when you use the levelling jacks, the air suspension lowers itself automatically.

I also rate Goldshmidt (try Travelworld in Telford)
One thing I found with jacks was that the vehicle often ended up rather high off the ground. You may need an extra step.

The automatic level function always ends up with the van higher than if you do it in manual mode, regarding Goldschmitt I believe they are a little more complicated than E&P and require more regular servicing, we were told this at the Goldschmidt centre at Polch.

We have recently had both rear air assist and HPC hydraulic levelling fitted by http://www.as-airsuspension.co.uk/index.html up in Warrington and very pleased with the setup.

This is our third moho to which we have had AS fit their air susspension system and very happy to recommend them for the products and their service.

Another thumbs up as Martin said for SAP in Doncater - he puts things right that others, including names mentioned in this thread, have done wrong or shoddily. Mick at SAP is E&P's UK troubleshooter.

Another +1 here for Mick at SAP in Doncaster. He is a top man and his engineering skills are perfect for the job in hand. He will go the extra mile in making sure the products work and is clearly not one to be beaten by jobs others refuse to undertake.

We have both the full VB Air (on six wheels) and the E& P levelling and would throughly recommend them.

We elected for air to improve the ride quality and travel comfort for our rear passengers and this has made a tremendous difference for them. It is fantastic for maintaining a level ride height even when fully laden and the overall ride comfort is vastly improved.

The E&P is without doubt the best addition you could ever wish to invest in for a motorhome and if I were to choose one over the other it would be E&P every time.

We were not impressed with the service we got last year from Conrad Anderson.

The workshop was incredibly messy, I didnt feel confidence in the guys doing the work (I have since had to reassemble some of it myself) And they charged more than they said.

Ive been happy with previous work but feel that they have changed and will not be going back.

I have VB 4 channel and EP jacks factory installed. Air levelling is limited to the size of the bags but for short stops on fairly level ground they are great. The jacks are tops for almost any situation and I have some interlocking pads which give me extended lift and or reduced strut extension. Although mine were a factory installed option Mick at SAP has been my go to man for issues, even EP UK will refer you to him for technical queries. The only money he has made from me is the purchase of a remote control for the EP system but he always takes my calls and spends time explaining solutions.
