I think the French are going on the year of the vehicle to decide which color badge you get.

I received an email today to say mine is on the way but they have issued a a red 4 sticker whereas it should be an orange 3 for my vehicle (Registered March 2008 euro 4) so I have copied the email back to them and asked for it to be corrected. I wait with baited breath.

Mine is a French registered 2009 Fiat Ducato 130 Multyjet and I was issued an Orange 3 badge, same for my car which is also a 2009.
I read somewhere the
Purple grade 1 was for electric vehicles.
Yellow grade 2 was for hybrids
Orange grade 3 was modern diesels and so on.
Unfortunately my 1990 Defender doesn't qualify for a badge. But in three years time it will be classified as vintage and will be allowed in without a badge. Unless the French decide to change it between now and then.

Interesting stuff here. I completed my application on 2 Feb and despite getting a nicely written e-mail nada since then! Tried the 'monitor your application' but it wouldn't accept the reg. no. so will try with just my e-mail and order numbe, as above, although I am sure I tried all combinations!

Sent an email off to them yesterday as we leave in 2 weeks - watch this space!

Received my e-mail today, showing my certificate as Yellow 2. My vehicle is a 2016 Fiat, so this would seem to suggest that Yellow is not just for Hybrids.

So some success with the monitoring system (if in doubt read the instructions), order number and email address did the trick but application in progress! Hopefully will be with us in a few days.

Received my email today that they are sending me an orange 3, which was what I expected. I avoid city centres like the plague anyway, but there is always the possibility of getting lost/diverted.

I have just got my invoice and temporary certificate on an email, the real one if coming by post . A yellow one for the MB sprinter. When it comes I am alright for Germany and France now, anywhere else that demands them? The screen might end up like the back of a caravan with stickers for all the sites on .

What is the general consensus for Vehicle Catagory if I am a coach built 3850 Kg MoHo? I am neither a private car or commercial vehicle:confused:

Is this certificate compulsory if not visiting Paris area?
We will just be transiting France on our way home from Spain so should not be travelling through any of their cities. Will I still need one?

Only if you are going through cities. Very soon another 21 will be joining Paris, so, just be on the safe side and in case of any diversions, I applied for mine.

Many thanks. Trouble is We'll be travelling through France before we get a chance to pick up any post at home.
Might ship out directly from Bilbao or Santander if it gets silly.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure when the other cities are joining, but maybe you could get you sticker sent out to you from family or whoever looks after your house. I think they are arriving in 2 weeks from application.

I applied for mine on 2 February. I've got an email with a copy of the certificate which I can print out if required last week ahead but the original has not turned up in the post yet.
If you apply for one you should get an electronic copy emailed to you ahead of the original

Check out below. According to the info you only need a sticker if you intend to drive through Paris and the other big cities joining in the scheme. Its a bit like the London Pollution zone.
