AIB Insurance is a long time sponsor of MotorhomeFun and offers us a fantastic deal of up to 15% off our Motorhome Insurance.

I drive a big RV, that can be an issue with some insurers, I tow a trailer, that's another problem and to top it off, I need business cover. Any one of these things can make insurance hard to get or expensive, but when you need insurance for all three I struggled to find it. Then I called AIB and within the hour they had found someone to take me on and at a great rate, they have had my repeat business every year for 5 years now.

We get the breakdown cover as part of the insurance package from them too. I got to test this when we broke down on a Sunday night after a show towing a 3½ ton trailer so we needed two recovery trucks and we were 180 miles from home. the recovery went so well that got home with our trailer only two hours later than if we hadn't broken down at all! From the initial call to the follow up at home the following day, the AIB staff were great.

Unlike most brokers in the motorhome space AIB has a relationship with lots of underwriters and can cover you while others can't. So if you need regular insurance they are competitive or if you have a specialist requirement, full timer or self built motorhome or business like us, these guys can get you the cover. They come from me highly recommended.

Call them now on 02380 268351 for an instant quote and cover, mention MotorhomeFun to get your discount or visit them online http://www.aib-insurance.co.uk

Been with them for a few years now including breakdown cover. Does the 15% discount apply to existing customers or just new business? Mines due in April I think.

New business, I’m with them 3rd year now. When they give you best quote they didn’t come down anything even though you say member on here.

I've been using AIB for a few years now and been very happy all round, and now you have given me a good reason to stick with them.
Saving might just pay next years MHF subs ;)

Just seen the previous two posts, bugger. Oh well maybe Jim will be generous at sub-renewal time....

Just applied online for a quote for our new van. Will be interesting to see if they can beat NFU Mutual for value / cover
Did they beat NFU Robert?
Which branch of NFU do you use as I seem to remember that going through a local branch is usually better than going direct via the website.
As you can tell it's that time of year again and Safeguard seem a bit very expensive.

Richard.

Hi Richard
Was a bit like dealing with Arthur Daily with AIB on the phone. Insisted that I gave them the lowest price I’d been quoted so their underwriter could beat it, otherwise they’d quote me their highest price. Very dodgy!

I naturally refused and having waited all day they finally came back saying they don’t insure high value vans. Shame their salesman and / or website didn’t mention this.
We deal with our local branch of NFU who have been excellent over the years. Unlike AIB they offer a ‘new for old’ van for all new vehicles within the first 2 years.
I did speak to the Louth branch a few years ago who confirmed that it makes no difference which branch you deal with.

Quite new to motorhoming and have been with Comfort for 3 years , no complaints.
Paid £340 with Comfort last year, have not yet got the renewal for this year.
AIB came up with £272 for roughly the same:-
Comp, plus UK and European break down and recovery for a value of £27.5k
2 main areas inferior to Comfort:-
Max cost of recovery £3k, which I know is light, hope it never happens. Comfort I think are £5k which is also light.
They charge £30 for a Green Card which if I am correct Comfort provide free.
So it's really £302 vs £340
It does include £1k of legal aid.

So , anyway, I went for it , thanks for the tip Jim , they included my Funsters discount.

My only observation is that being a broker they do some , if not hard sell, a little in that direction.

the policy they found for me is a LV Highway one , so with a reputable company.

7 years ago my local NFU office quoted me a ridiculous price, they must of thought I had a combine harvester. I’m now another AIB customer.

Got a quote from NFU but although it was a fair bit less than my Safeguard renewal it was a bit more than Comfort.
I had almost decided to go with Comfort but had a conversation with Safeguard before changing.
Lo and behold they found an alternative that was damned near half the renewal quote Plus slightly better windscreen cover.
Well pleased and so have renewed with Safeguard.

Richard.

Hi everyone just had a quote from AIB £899 with no security , as for NFU they must be living in the clouds £1700, these are for a Pilote evidence 21 plate best quote so far is from Performance Direct at £477 with no security but will check on Monday (confused.com) next best quote caravan guard at £412 but with tracker or alarm within 28 days Comfort £ 446 but security within 7 days so no chance of getting van bitzs fitted .

Filled in an online form for AIB for a ring back.
Keep getting multiple emails saying that have failed to contact me by phone! They have not tried that hard as I always have my phone with me and I have no missed calls! 😡

Tried them this year with 15% discount was only a few pence cheaper than our existing quote, tried a few places stayed with the ones we were with.

Reading the section Driving abroad.
Minimum cover in the country that you are in.
Also Use for more than a quarter of the period of insurance.
So if you go on holiday overseas for more than 90 days.
Are you insured as a overstayer ?
Or go on holiday a second time in the same year.

Changed mine back to comfort this morning.

Thanks Jim for the timely reminder about AIB....

My renewal from current broker (retaining Aviva as Insurer) came in £145 cheaper than last years - good news I thought... but seeing your thread prompted me to approach AIB for an alternative quote.... result being they came in lower by a further £54 from my renwal quote...still using Aviva, and also reduced the complusory excess by £100. Happy days... (y)

CMC club insurnce has gone up from £334 to £557 as Ageas have discountined so its underwrtiiten by Highway (never heard of them). Recently retired so I am not sure whether this has made any difference?

Caravan Guard using Sun Alliance £445.

AIB with Aviva £350

I won’t bother with anybody else, probably go with AIB as they come recommended. Found the AIB agent fast talking and not usually someone I would trust. If I paid then over the phone as there was only 15 minutes to closing would offer a further £15 off!
I want to see what I am getting first. Has any one needed to make an accident claim and was everything as expected?
