Having a good time in Ireland with the wife but she's been running a cold which I've been jibing at her that it's only hay fever, course today I'm full of the bloody same. But the alarm bells rang when she said that her hands were flaky, yes the men will think so what, the women, buy some moisturiser, so why alarm bells?
Because when she caught covid back in June 2020 that was her only symptom and as we were to go see my 74 and 76 yearold parents today I thought better safe than sorry and taadaaa...

Ef it, ef it from a great height!

I’m just at the end of first ever dose after an hotel stay in Cumbria 😡. Not pleasant but feeling much better now 10 days on . . .
Hope you both have a quick recovery.

Just getting over it after flying back from Spain, it completely knocked me off my feet! Lots of fluids and rest! I am on my forth week and still need an afternoon nap
Hope you feel better soon

A lot of people now saying that they won’t have another Covid jab even if gov recommends it. Could be interesting.
I had 3 different Covid jabs during the pandemic and have had Covid 3 times that I know of i.e. positive test results, last one being Nov last year or thereabouts. Luckily I've never been too ill with it, probably due to the jabs.

Would I have another jab? I'm not sure. If I haven't developed sufficient defence against it by now I'm not sure a 4th jab will do much. Unless of course another new, serious variant arises, then I'd consider the benefits.

There are vaccinations for all sorts of illnesses but no vaccine for stupid!
Funny that vaccines for other things stop you getting it and in some cases eradicates the virus. Still trying to work out why this one is so useless and after this length of time it hasn't got any better. My wife is just over her 4th dose of it. I'm lagging behind with just 2.

A good friend of mine has foreign language students at their house. 5 or 6 at a time and without fail they all seem to get cold like symptoms. Never do covid tests as that would stop them going to the school their parents pay for, but I would lay odds it is positive.

Because it's a new organism and still rapidly changing. It's the same with flu you don't just get one vaccination and it's good for years there's a new one every year guestimated to be effective against the most likely strain the next winter. There are a series of programmes being shown on BBC 4 the first one is about vaccinations it's really interesting and available now on I player the series is called extra life.
The third one is about the use of data in health also very interesting especially post covid.

It could be anything and most likely infections they're picking up from people in this country that they don't have immunity too. Nothing like blaming foreigners for things is there!

yes that what I thought, it was a crazy report.
The thing I saw said that bird flu had mutated and infected cattle it was though it was then more likely to mutate to a strain that could infect humans. Particularly worrying given the feeling among some that we took covid too seriously and that we ought to distrust " experts" and rely on the advice of populists

Mrs. Odd has serious health problems caused by the vaccine. We have both had COVID twice, I know which I would choose if it's one or the other and it's not the vaccine.

Covid outbreaks are no longer being mentioned on the media, its like a taboo subject almost.
I along with many others I guess am totally confused as to what Covid sufferers should or are allowed to do these days, go to work if able, wear a mask, tell everyone arround you that you have it, isolate for so many days, then if strong enough carry on, or isolate until you get an all clear reading on one of those unreliable home covid self tests?
I do see the odd person whilst shopping wearing a mask, and I think is this to stop them catching it which we were told was ineffective, or do they have Covid and are trying not to spread it?

I guess we should ideally if vulnerable stay away from large public gatherings, stop travelling on public transport unless we have to, especially aeroplanes, continue to use hand sanitisers, clean shopping trolley handles and the like, but no word from official channels these days of the current protocol/ risks to the vulnerable or elderly.
Even Puten is out shaking hands in public now, no longer making everyone he has to meet self quarantine for a fortnight beforehand, so it must be safe out there.

that would be the actual putin or a doppelgänger then..?

I was quite pleased with myself having avoided Covid since the start. Three weeks ago I was inspecting a property with the landlord. He said he had a cold that he’d caught from his son. I asked if he was sure it wasn’t Covid and he said yes. I inspected four properties with him that day. Two days later I went to a gig at Brixton Academy then the next night O2 Arena. Day after that felt ill and tested positive. I dread to think how many people I must have passed it on to and all because the landlord was careless.

COVID now is less bad than flu.
The way it affected people so differently, I wonder if those who's body was less able to deal with it, have already succumbed and the rest of us are coping
I had COVID right at the start, before testing was running, the initial infection was over in a couple of weeks but it was months before I fully recovered, if I did fully recover I'm not sure I did, the second time it was like a bad cold.

Deaths involving Covid-19 in March and April 2020 - 33,841
Deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate May and June 2024 - 1,230

The vaccine has its problems and all of those 1,230 peoples families have my sympathy. All the people still getting Covid are having a rough time - but I am not sure its fair to say the vaccine is useless.

A cynic may say; the companies making the vaccine make far more money if the vaccine has to be given annually 🤔
