Hey all, need a little help :)

I have a new headunit to replace the dated factory one and wonder if I need anything else to make the steering wheel controls work with it?

My steering wheel controls just do the volume and change the radio station.

The headunit I've gone with is a Sony DSX-A416BT which is a radio with dual Bluetooth connections, meaning I can use my tablet as satnav and my phone for calls. It also comes with an external mic which I figured would be good in a van. The remote function is controlled via a 3.5mm jack.

I bought this last August and just getting around to fitting it, so had a quick read of the fitting bumf. It says this, regarding the steering wheel controls:

Steering wheel control compatible
The DSX-A416BT can also be paired with your steering wheel remote. Special adaptors are vehicle specific.

I guess this means I need to purchase a separate adaptor?

I'm sure plenty of people here have replaced the headunit. Did you need an adaptor? If so, what would be best?

Thanks, David

We have a local vehicle electrical installation / repair place. After I put a new double din radio in our Transit based MH the steering wheel radio controls obviously no longer worked. The place told me I could get an adaptor lead, but behind the new radio there did not seem a lot of space left to fit the new lead. The price was fairly high as well, so I just left it. Would be nice to have tho.

Me too changed the factory radio in my Boxer mechanic said can’t use the S/W controls to control the radio not bothered really, co- pilot can do it, just need to find out how to pair the mobile off to youtube

i am in the same position, recently bought an unfitted second hand android head unit/dvd/gps etc for a 2015 ducato/peugeot the one with the curved top. it didnt come with everything though, needs a canbus decoder box to make it work. shame as it seems to do everything else, but wanted all the bells and whistles. the seller has been really helpful in trying to get it sorted but i will prob end up selling it on as i would get annoyed and frustrated if the steering wheel controls dont work as they should!

Hi Folks,
Purchased canbus adaptor and leads from here
<Broken link removed>
Vehicle Peugeot Boxer 2018 with standard Fiat Vp1 dab radio.
The canbus interface stops the millage indicator flashing. All works as it should.
If you contact support with vehicle and head unit details they will tell you what you need.
Highly recommended.

I fitted a kenwood radio in our 2007 boxer and had to buy the canbus decoder to use the steering wheel controls. Easy to fit and works perfectly. Will have to look back thru my ebay list to find which one but sounds very similar to the one mentioned above. Paid about 30 for ours

Just had a look at that link, same make as ours just ours is the one for earlier models.

Just to update this, I did end up ordering a Canbus adaptor and, a month later, just gotten around to fitting it :)

The head unit I fitted was a Sony DSX A416BT. I went for this model as it has 2 Bluetooth connections at once, meaning I can have my tablet connected as a satnav and my phone connected. It also comes with an external microphone which is useful in a van.

The Canbus adaptor was a CTSPG10 from Dynamic Sounds. Not cheap at £30, but so simple to fit. Literally plug it in to existing harness.

Steering wheel controls now all working perfectly. A little surprising as the radio search buttons didn't work with the factory head unit :)

Cheers all.

I have the issue of the odometer mileage flashing but I was told it requires an OBD scanner to access the Ecu to re-inform it that a different multimedia unit has been fitted. When it was installed it all worked OK, but now the radio S/W control just changes the radio tuner numbers ie dab 1,dab 2 etc. I also bought all the different cables and adapters and the Canbus adaptor. I just have to save enough money to visit a Peugeot dealer to access the ecu....
