She’s been well drained , air circulating, on ehu and managed a quick run 3 weeks ago to refuel . In your experience what problems should I look out for - it a year old coach built Moho btw

Shouldn't need any special care, well aired & heat it as normal.
Don't be tempted to listen to the soothsayers on here who will happily tell you "warm air carries more moisture than cold air", when did freezing cold air ever dry your washing?

Mechanical checks should be just your normal checks & if laid up for a while, its preferable to leave the handbrake off, as long as its safe, so in gear handbrake off.

I’d keep an eye out for rodents and set traps having removed any potential food source

Thanks guys I’ll do that

You could park your MH on ramps, to allow any pools of water to run off the roof, rather than form blocks of ice.
Internal lockers should emptied and left open, and seat cushions and pads stood on end. If you don't mind the extra expense, the heating on a low setting wouldn't do any harm.

If preferred, you could have the EHU on a timer, so as to come on during the night only, when the temperatures are at their coldest. I was in our MH today, and with the sun as it was from 11.00 to 15.00, there wasn't any need for any form of heating.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

May I just correct this statement. Warm air does carry more moisture than cooler air.

Yes it does, & if the motorhome is aired properly, the warm air will carry any unwanted moisture away. Try airing the van on a freezing cold day with no heating & you'll end up with a musty or damp motorhome, especially if your in the motorhome!
So close but, no cigar.

I have a low wattage oil heater on on the basis that the warm air will rise out of the roof vent . All cushions are up ended all cupboards opened

Mine sits outside hooked up and heating stat set at 8degs and even with this extreme cold not a sign of condensation.

I've often noted that houses that get mice, also tend to have cats! Coincidence? It's almost like the moggies are just bringing in the mice to play with, then getting bored with that game let them go?
Is putting out a trap with bait in sort of like inviting the pesky little critters in for lunch???
I've cleared every last vestige of vegetation away from around our MH, so now the little buggers have nowhere to hide and sneak up on the van. :winky:

Or drain the water, or open roof so it vents, or open all the cupboard, and I’m sure they also rotate the tyres every now and then so they are ok for the next owner.

If you have a sink cover, remove or open it. Also, if you have a freezer compartment inside the fridge, wedge the door open. Have had mould grow in both of these during a lay up.

Excellent advice, thats exactly how ours is during this cold weather. :drinks:
