An interesting incident when on the aire at Honfluer which has 5amp mains supply.
My fridge, being set to auto, connected to the mains and ran for a while but when I switched the electric heating on the fridge changed to gas supply and when the heating was off the fridge reverted to mains.

Having since been on a site with 10amp supply and no problems I assume it had something to do with voltage drop but would appreciate any ideas.

Cheers
Bill

Likely to be overload, what is the wattage consumption of your heater & fridge ?

5a @230v will only produce circa 1.15kw

10a @230v will produce circa 2.3kw

Thanks for the quick responses.
Definitely seems to have been due to overloading the 5a supply as it's never happened before or since.

Sorry, should have said that I had the heating on the 1kw setting so I'm guessing the fridge won't function on mains with only 0.15kw left
Cheers

Hi Lenny, so there must have been a volt drop not relating to the 5a supply ?

still a very brave thing to do, even your battery charger or almost anything else plugged into a socket could have been enough to tip over the 5A, then you have all the hassle of finding someone to reset it

I suspect their intention with restricting the Amps to 5 is to stop electric heating being used

Good spot though to see it change to gas, did you hear it ignite?

Exactly that David. Heard the gas ignitor clicking and checked the lights on the fridge panel.
