My daughter and her partner have used our MH a few times, but would like one of their own.

They have seen this one on Facebook, which they are interested in.

It seems pretty good to me - not seen it yet - but what views do others have?

£11,500
New Conversion
Ex-Red-Cross Van
No Service History
12 months MOT

Thanks,

John

Could be anything from a van with a mattress to a full blown and we'll engineered conversion. I've seen a lot of converted vans, ambulances and minibuses and while a few are very well done the majority are awful and quite a few are downright dangerous. Give us a link to the vehicle in question and we can give a better informed viewpoint . In edit: sorry I missed your link. On the surface it looks pretty well done but pay attention to how the electrics have been done and in particular the gas system. I couldn't see any evidence of a gas locker in the photos so is it an underslung tank? I would ask for certification on electrics and gas installations. Is a fifteen year old Renault Master worth £11,500? I really don't know, that's your family's decision to make. What I will tell you is a few years ago my brother bought a home converted master, nine months in it failed the mot on extensive and major corrosion and was beyond reasonable repair. He paid several thousand for it, I gave him a grand and broke it for spares and lost money on the deal in the end.

Dave,

For some reason the link didn't appear in the original post - it does now, since I edited it.

Thanks,

John

Yeah I found it and have commented, I've had another look and it appears that the gas bottle lives in the under kitchen cupboard and is piled directly to the hob in rubber hose. The fridge looks like a domestic table top unit which means it will be mains powered, not much good when camping off grid. It wouldn't tempt me at that price.

It’s a very smart looking van. Others will give you the technical stuff. My only comment is that you can’t get from the cab to the living without going outside. So cup of tea in the driving rain? You get my drift.

From a quick look through the gas storage doesn't appear to be correct, no proper storage under the sink, only a porta-potty in the toilet compartment, no sink that I can see, no shower, to me it seems a lot of money for a glorified day van.

I also spotted that the fridge is a 230v only as reading the blurb it runs off an inverter when travelling and mains on site.

Thank you all for your swift and comprehensive replies. You noticed things that I missed.

Based on your coments, my daughter is going to give it a miss.

She will keep looking, and I may be back again for advice.

Thanks again,

John
