I am sick of my old Epsom 740 although in it's time was good.

I want an all in one printer.

Mainly be used for pictures and photocopies.

Budget £100 or less.

Any advise?

John, All-in-ones don't give fantastic photo quality - they are a compromise, really - its really expensive to use one as a photocopier unless you just want one copy now and then; faxing - well, you can use your PC, you don't need one of these - and as for scanning - again, not the best quality, although if space is an issue and you are happy with relatively reasonable / mediocre results, then there are quite a few cheap deals out there. Depends on what quality photos you would be happy with, I would only use a Canon or an Epson for serious photography reproduction, although HP is now making a effort to regain lost ground.

The primary concern for me when looking for a printer is the cost / availability of compatable cartridges, cheap compatables easily available for Epson & Cannon, less the £5:00 for a full set of six colours for my R220 / R300.

Prolly not good enough for the serious photographer but plenty good enough for snapshots.

I've just flashed the internal service counter on my R300 for the third time!!! & it's still going strong.

What size photos do you want to print John? And what quality?

If just smallish snaps, then the Epson R300 etc range or Canon Pixma are good value. A3 - I would only use the Canon 9000 range or Epson Stylus Pro 2400 family....The Epson R- range prints CD/DVD faces as well.

I love my Epson R300 bit on the big side perhaps but good quality prints. The only downside to the reviews when I brought it was "a bit slow".:thumb:

It only does 6x4 prints though Ray, and only photos - I guess John may want to print photos as well as letters and other docs? These tiny specialised photo printers are nice if you want to print while away at a family gathering etc, but are also seen my many as a gimmick - they can only do photos, nothing else, and not very big ones at that.Quality is variable...the Canon Selphy range and the Epsons I think are quite good; but media is expensive as its not inkjet technology.......

Hi John,

We have the epson stylus photo RX425, which is all in one printer, scanner, copier.
Pictures are great, I would recommend it.

Dawn.
