Hi everyone,

After gaining some inspiration from your posts we have just booked the ferry to Cherbourg beginning of September heading to Ile De Re - looking for an overnight stop on the way down.

Aire or campsite is fine but near a nice village/town or even beach would be great - any ideas?

Have booked into the municipal campsite at St Martin for a few nights but may move after.

Also booked Puy De Foy at the end of the week, looking forward to the evening show!

Thanks,

Rob

Looking at Google Maps, the total distance from Cherbourg to La Rochelle (where you take the bridge to Ile de Re) is 300 miles. The only stopover I know of on the direct route (I'm sure there's plenty I don't know of) is Fougeres, just NE of Rennes. There are a couple of aires in the town, the nicest of which is near the old chateau. That's about 120 miles from Cherbourg.

You can see it in Google Maps here.

I wouldn't have thought you'd be going near the coast unless you want to add extra miles to the journey.
