What are your plated axle weights just out of interest?

I don't know if this is a silly question or not: if you weigh the rear and then the front do those two figures always add up to the total? i.e. did you weigh the whole van all at once and get 3388kg or was that just adding the two axles together?

I would normally weigh whole van and then rear axle then deduct it from gross weight to give front.(y)(y)(y) Some weigh individual axles.

Should just add up, provided the the access / ground surrounding the weighbridge is level with the weighing platform. ie the van remains level, whichever axle is being weighed.

Haha, I felt silly asking the question because it seems logical that the two halves would equal the whole. I did some experiments where I made a "van" (AKA a plastic tub with batteries taped to the bottom for wheels and a bag of nuts as cargo) and, yes, as long as the other wheels are exactly level with the ones being weighed the numbers add up. As soon as the scale is lower or higher than the grounded wheels the numbers go wrong.

Did the front -then the whole -then the back
All added up

Its unusual for the front axle to have more weight on it than the rear ... are you SURE your combined 'human' weight is correct? :imoutahere:

Due to pick up my Adria Matrix 26th and I want to get it weighed but the weighbridge close to us in Wigan has closed down. I noticed you are Cheshire based so where did you get it weighed.

Which Matrix are you buying and what spec, incl engine and transmission spec etc. I only ask since I did an assessment on Adria payloads (A-Class and Coachbuilt) the other day and found some to be fairly poor in the 3.5T weight class.

Maybe you could help me then. Its a Matrix Supreme 670 DC 150bhp and automatic gearbox. According to the Adria site the payload is 450kg. While i'm waiting for the completion I am looking for things to fill my time and have taken to obsessively weighing everything that will go in it. I reckon all of the 'equipment' will come to about 250. That doesn't include fuel and water, missus and dog. Some people say that an amount of fuel and water will be included in the MIRO but not sure. What do you think?

Just spotted your analysis page...impressive but disappointing. The only redeeming factor would be that I don't have the solar panel. So what would that weigh?

The nearest public weighbridge to me is at the B&NES waste transfer station in Midland Road, Bath.

I'm pleased you've seen it but, that said, it will be an interesting exercise to see what my own interpretation of the technical catalogue is when compared to your realtime figures.

In all honesty I'm just a potential punter looking at the brochure so I could be entirely wrong and my waffle could be just that :D

All the best,

Andrew

No, i'm grateful to you as you have started to get me thinking. I have just been out for a drive and have discovered two weighbridges next door to each other in Westhoughton , right next to the M61. If all goes to plan I can pick up motorhome on 26th drive down m6 and m61 and have it weighed. That's my starting point prior to loading the stuff I've already weighed.

I thought that as well
Weights of humans correct
90 litres diesel is 80+ kilos
Anyone else's heavier at the front ( keep it clean)

So if I strapped 150 kg to the back ( scooter) and shed the ballast from the passenger seat, I suspect we would be very similar in total and my axle bias would shift rearwards (y)

Just picked up my new Adria Matrix Supreme 670 DC. Really impressed with the van, however I've got to say you weren't that far out with your weight estimates. I took it straight to the weighbridge and weighed it with both of us off the weighbridge and it came in at 3180kg. That was with one full gas bottle, no water and about 22 litres of diesel. That's very little payload. A little disappointed with those figures so it looks like we'll have to have it re plated. Not sure how I go about doing that and we expect to be leaving for France and Spain in a couple of weeks so unlikely to get it done in time.

It's really good of you to post-up your findings but 3,180kg without people, water, fuel and gear will not give you much to play with sir.
