20171026_113137.jpg We have a Pilote P650GJ which has three 230v sockets inside (and for some strange reason, one in the garage). One is in the kitchen area over the hob and two are in the bedroom area. The photo shows where the 12v socket is for the TV, with a blank above it. In the first one we saw in a showroom there was a 230v where the blank is. My question is would it be possible to fit one there. All the electrical gubbins (technical term lol) are directly below it under the dining bench seat. I have my trusted electrician coming to have a look at it next week, but he has never worked on a motorhome before. Would it be installed any differently than a domestic socket since it only works on hook up? Many thanks for any help.

Use 3core flex not twin and earth domestic cable.
Thanks, I'll tell him that. I presume it is readily available.

Yours has the same plug system and silver frame as my Hymer. You will need to buy a matching insert to go where the blank goes. I think they are CBE, but I have been struggling to find out who makes that silver frame. The CBE frames I have seen are not the same

if your stuck for some flex you could always steal a bit from your hook up lead as not all electricians will carry flex cheaper than paying for a second visit even if you have to buy a new lead

Your electrician will no doubt have some cable and the socket will just be a simple radial circuit. By the sounds of things neither complicated or expensive.

@peterc10, I would have though I could keep the same silver frame. By the looks of it, it should just prise off, so would be able to refit it once the socket is fixed.

He will just be coming out to look at it first. I may possibly have to source the socket as they will be peculiar to motorhomes I presume, and there is an electrical supplies shop next door to where I work who will possibly have the cable if my electrician doesn't

As the new socket will be inside a cupboard, appearance shouldn't matter. I wouldn't bother trying to source a matching socket - too time consuming and expensive.

Garage 3 pin plug is for charging bikes, secondary beer fridge and/or for hot plates or anything else you want to use outside when on hook-up. Funny how we are all different but we have little use for 3 pin sockets in the van using gas for most things when not on hook up and mainly using electricity for heating/hot water when hooked up.

It's not actually in a cupboard, but at the side of a top locker. It is directly opposite the hab door and is, possibly, the first thing you see when you walk in!

@Camdoon, i'm ashamed to admit I'm an Internet junkie and frequently need to charge my tablet, phone and mifi dongle, but especially the tablet, usually whilst using it, hence wanting a socket near to where I sit. What I have to do at the moment is run an extension lead from one of the rear sockets.

We don't have bikes of any description and, even if we had the payload, certainly wouldn't have a washing machine or beer fridge. The only thing I can think of using the garage socket for is charing the handheld vacuum cleaner :D

Why not use 12v chargers much more useful don't need EHU or if you use an inverter more efficent.

All done on 12v hopefully. I have 4 extra 12v sockets.

I think the sockets sold by cbe will fit your surround (the silver frame) but can't check as I'm not home..
the cbe mounting come with a mounting plate and a clip on surround... your socket in the picture will just have the silver surround ... no mounting plate...
hard to describe , bur as I said I think the normal cbe type socket will still fit the silver surround..

12v sockets are much more use as they work even when not on hook up for phones and pads get usb sockets fitted rather than 240

Thanks everyone for your help and comments. I find that 12v takes much longer to charge than mains and, also, if I'm paying for electric I'm going to use as much as possible lol. Oh, and I'll probably start taking my laptop too.

Yes I am sure you can. and yes you do just prise it off with a small screwdriver. I was just trying to politely hijack your thread to get an answer for me .......... sorry

I use this company for CBE items and they list the silver frames. Their service is very good as are their prices.
Thanks but I can't see the silver frame listed. Most of them are a thicker more rounded CBE frame rather than the angular one I have (and shown on the OP). The only ones that look similar are the high gloss chrome ones, but ours are dull silver so won't match.

Is CBE a type or a brand? If a brand surely there are others, but what would you search for on the Web?

You have been using a too lower power 12v charger then.

CBE is a brand. I am sure there are others, but the centre bits with the plugs. switches etc look very similar to what I have got. It's the frames that are different! Will speak to the dealer when I am up there in a couple of weeks to see if they can shed any light. They should know because they fitted matching 12V sockets for me when I bought it off them.
