Is it ok to top up adblue before warning light comes on? Van is a Peugeot 2022. 2.3.
Thanks.

There have also been reports of warning lights not going out after it has been topped up. It is therefore better to top up often. I now do ours every 1000 miles. You will soon get a feel for how often it needs done.

No relevant here, but for other future needs you might want to check out the engine size. I believe Citroen and Peugeot have 2.2's and 2.3 is used on Fiats. Will mess up the spare parts guy if you insist it's a 2.3 if it is really 2.2 :-)

Nothing wrong with letting the yellow warning light come on. Allegedly there's still loads left. I do mine as soon as I can after light appears and can only get about 10litres in. Believe my 2020 Fiat tank holds 19 litres. Not sure if there is a red Ad Blue warning light not brave enough to find out as engine wont start if you run out completely......

And can you use any type of AdBlue? Reason I ask, I have half a dozen bottles of Jaguar Land Rover AdBlue, but now have a Volvo, would this be ok to use?

It's all the same

Tha adblue range with my VW T6.1 topped up is 19,000 miles.

Just put 12.2l in my 2.2 2022 Ducato for the first time at 3080 miles. I noticed the first alert saying AdBlue low and having no previous experience I filled it up.

Citroen is 2ltr not sure about the Peugeot

What a coincidence. We have done 2950ish miles in our Fiat (new last year) without the warning light coming on so I filled it up today. I was worried that the warning light was faulty. It took 9.5 ltrs. I think I have read that some engines use more than others even if they are the same make and model. Luckily found a garage near us that has a pump. It's a shell garage so I expect £1.91 per ltr. is expensive but I can't lift the 10 ltr bottles and also can't be bothered to check use by dates as I believe adblue has a shelf life.
Life was so much simpler in "the old days";)

With adblue it’s not the engine that determines how much Adblue will be used it’s your style of driving, if you are doing lots of short trips where the engine and more importantly the cat and DPF doesn’t get hot enough then you will use more Adblue.
look out for Adblue at Aldi at £16.99 its gone up from £11.99 6 months ago but still cheaper than garage. I decant the 10ltr into a jug for filling the tank.

All Fiat's are now 2.2 a totally different engine to the Peugeot 2.2.

My 2021 Fiat based 160hp Adria uses about 10 litres of ad blue per 1000 miles on long journeys doing 70mph generally. Too much?

Yes, my Citroen relay remapped to 180BHP uses around 10litres per 2500 miles with mixed everyday and long journey driving.

Our current Fiat uses much more than our previous Peugeot. If does seem a lot though. Ours uses about 5L per 1000 miles but it does depend on the type/style of driving.

Yes I know. I just meant that the original poster wrote about 2.3 which afaik not used in PSA brands and may mess up people in the garages and/or spare parts shops.

I've a 160hp 2.3 Ducato based A class van. I filled adblue at a pump and set off for Spain, so mostly motorway mileage. At just over 1000 miles I filled up adblue at a pump and it took 5 litres. I drive about 60mph on motorways.

Edit: it's a 9 speed auto box.

After reading all previous replies will top ours up before going away at the weekend, now our T6/T6.1 they tell you amount required but as we have now covered nearly 3k in our 2022 Fiat without a warning light can we just fill until we can see it in the filler tube as dont want to overfill and/or damage the level sensor. (apologies if the dash tells you the information but not with the vehicle at mo). Did actually open the Fiat handbook earlier and only mentions the amber and red warning lights......

Me too but the opening is so small it’s still difficult keeping a steady hand especially if the winds blowing as it was the last time l filled it. 3.6 Mercedes.
Why is the opening so small as it takes ages to fill. Haven’t attempted it at a filling station yet but will next time as l don’t want to repeat the jug filling exercise.

Just returned from Fiat dealer was told to only top up when light comes on apparently they have had problems with Adblu crystallising in the filler pipe . Dont shoot the messanger.

Luckily ours has a gauge so I can run it down to 10% and use the pump system on a garage forecourt. Much easier and no spills or carrying excess adblue in its container.
