We are about to top up the AD Blue for the first time. Daft question maybe, but how can you tell when it’s full, other than when it pours out the top? We have no idea how much was in it when it came out of the showroom, the fuel tank was empty so I assume that the adblue didn’t have much in it.
thanks in advance.

My Peugeot boxer base holds approx 15 litres. It's supposed to do 15 k miles on that which I suppose is about correct as I have only ever put in around 15 lites and we are just on 19.5 k miles and adblu topped up with 10 litres.
I checked on line and from 2018 Peugeot boxer based are supposed to use 30 litres per 10 k miles,a substantial increase.

I have the same problem how much to put in ,went to a local BP station to look at the set up and looked at the price £1.70 per litre so I will go to Costco and get 10 litres and see how much I get in .

We had the light come on yesterday on our way home from France so we pulled in at Cambridge services and put our 10L emergency supply in the tank, it took it all
Lots of information about filling with Ad Blue says do not overfill, how do we know when we are overfilling?

We had the same issue with our brand new motor home, less than 2k on the clock luckily as we were trying to find out how much to put in a delivery van had just purchased 10ltr and said lob it all in as it holds 20ltrs..
don’t buy at fuel stations too expensive.

I use a 10 ltr container it has a nozzle that stops the flow when it's full

In answer to the original question, it is entirely guesswork as to when the tank is actually nearing full. Great bit of design work there by Fiat etc me thinks!

Seen on some other forums that the Fiat "Low AdBlu" warning light comes on at about half empty! and you should wait until the "Countdown indication" starts before adding 10L.

Apparently if you fill up at a petrol station the adBlu hose "hard connects" (not tried personally) and cuts out like a petrol pump does when full.

We use so much ad blu it’s criminal 1,000 miles 10ltrs I’ve had it back to Iveco and they say it’s within the parameters set by Iveco, at the price it is now I may well get it disabled🤣

Put rags or paper around the filler, pour until it’s full…….that’s what I do.

Having had a RAC Commercial recovery guy come out, when our van wouldn’t start after our light came on, pouring it in until it literally cascaded out, a little overfill shouldn’t be an issue.

Just thoroughly wash the area when you’re done. Our Fiat based van is supposed to take 19 litres. (y)

Yes, filled up my AdBlu at a hypermarket filling station in France the other day. Works just like normal pump. Last topped up from container at 2k miles and now at 6k miles it took 9 litres to fill.

My Ford has a digital readout of how much it will accept.

Go to a filling station that has ad blue, sometimes in the lorry side of the pumps, and fill up same as fuel. Cuts off automatically when full and probably will work out far cheaper.

Not necessarily so see my earlier post #3 at £1.70 a litre it is expensive.
