That's a good idea but has that been accepted?

When asked to"leave" passports we always decline and suggest they take a photocopy immediately. Works more often than not and when NOT....... We simply say " we'll move on then",,,,,,,,,,,,, surprising how often minds are changed.
Never part with our passports!

I really can't believe how bad ACSI are, three years ago I did a direct debit for the book, the next year they didn't send it so we had to buy it at Peterborough, last year they didn't send it so we had to get a Dutch version because they had sold out of English by the time we realised we had not received it, but they promised to get it right this year. Yesterday we received our copy in the post in French! With a total cost of over 19 euro I don't think we save that much. Many sites we visited last year would charge the same price without ACSI card.
And yes many will not accept the ID card without a fight, so what is the point. I really think ACSI has lost the plot. Good idea to laminate a copy of the Passports instead.

Yes, some sites will take that instead of your passport.

My card for 2016 does not have a line for the passport number as this year's did. I doubt that we can leave it instead of our passports now.. Mind you, as others say, most Spanish campsites that we have stayed in have insisted on at least seeing/take copies of the actual passports if not keep them! Whether ACSI cards are presented or not.

Yet to find a Spanish site prepared to accept card instead of passport....... Card is waste of effort and time.

Bryan.

PS: Did not stop me buying one for 2016.:xrofl:

Mine arrived today direct from acsi, its much cheaper than vicarious but takes longer to come. The id card came a couple of weeks ago. There seems to be some confusion about the two cards though. The cardboard one in the book is the discount card. The plastic id card is the one you can leave in place of your passport. Not accepted everywhere though. Id cards also available from camping clubs, AA, Rac etc.

We have never handed our passports over for someone else to keep. If someone insisted we would move on.

Won't be getting my copy direct ever again, still waiting for delivery. VB next year

Mine arrived this morning direct from ACSI and I only ordered them on 3 December. That is good enough service for me and cost me less than £10 delivered. :xsmile:

@Khizzie I assume yours will arrive this week. They seem to be distributed directly by the Royal Mail centre at Hounslow.

Re above, I think that works out £10.24 I/c post. Other retailers seem to be selling at £16.50 I/c postage

I paid for the brilliant phone app last year and it still seems to be working exactly the same now we're in 2016?
