I'm a newbie
Hello Campers! Please can someone help? I recently bought a Swift Rio 325 and at the weekend I was filling up the water tank when the nozzle of my hose became detached and fell into the tank! I am worried that this is now interfering with the sensors in the tank as the gauge on my console was telling me I had little water left when in fact I had more than half a tank left.

Any suggestions - ideally ones which don't involve me taking it back to the vendor and spending money! - much appreciated.

There should be an access hatch to put your arm in somewhere.

Underneath the vehicle? Or from inside? Couldn't see anything inside the van ...

"....they are all very inaccurate from new" - how long do they take to accurately calibrate?

We just ignore ours , fill and empty as required.

They don’t, they are notorious for being inaccurate. You can’t calibrate them and they don’t get any better. They work by having different length rods into the water, as they are exposed the resistance changes and so does the indicated level. Except it doesn’t work that well.

So when the alarm goes off advising the tank is nearly empty, I should just ignore this and hope I've rinsed all the soap off before the shower runs out !! That's what I love about camping - life on the edge!

Depends on the van, on ours 50% full lasts ages, 75% hardly ever on. Waste tank wise, rarely goes over 50%. You have to get to know your van.

don't rely on your gauge, just fill when needed, or when your taking a shower

Gauges for waste and fresh water are often unreliable. Once you've been motorhoming for a little while you will become so attuned to water, waste water, gas and toilet cassette levels, that rarely will you be taken by surprise. Every now and again, maybe; but mostly you will know precisely whats in your tanks without looking at the gauge. (y)
