Hi out there - I'm sure this has been asked before - how do most of you access the internet on the move - I'd obviously like to keep costs down but be able to access google maps , park4night , etc - whats the most economical but stable way? thanks in anticipation Topcat57uk

Get a contract on your phone you can roam up to 25gb while abroad..

I have Tesco £13mth with club card and 60gb a month but can only use up to 25g within contract…

For the use you want 20-30 gig a month would do but I find the more you have the better…😎

I find 12gig a month plenty even with using google maps every day both for driving and planning, lots of coming on here, sending emails with photos, reading the news with videos, a YouTube video usually once a day and so on.
I second a negotiated phone contract and if you can get 20 gig that would be more than enough unless you want to stream TV for a couple of hours every day.

Once we get low on data on our phones I buy a local sim for the mifi, we can get by on 20GB a week a lot less if careful.

Check your current phone contract - you may find that you are now out of the contract and can get a sim only deal from one of many on the market.
When abroad, my husband’s £5 month ID sim in a cheap motorola phone gets better signal strength than my EE sim in an iphone but we have never not had a signal.

Depends upon how much you listen to and watch. We have Spotify on all of the time and also have two phones, two tablets and a laptop. In addition we use an Amazon Firestick. Dependent upon what we are doing, we could use 100+GB a month. We now try to do all of the downloads using site wifi. That's when it's fast enough to do so.

We use our Tesco sims, plus buy local ones from whichever country we're visiting. Currently using a Netgear M2.

You proposed use is similar to ours.

What we do is tether our laptop to the phone. The phone contract we have includes 3 Gb per month, outside home country. Of course on some trips we span 2 months so effectively get 6Gb, but when we do not we find 3Gb sufficient.

We do not use maps online for navigation as our phone has maps downloaded, so only GPS needed for Satnav.
