There seems to be more and more abbreviations in the threads. For the life of me I can’t work out what they mean. Can some kind soul make a list for us newbies please?

Not sure which threads/abbreviations you want to know but here are a few:

General ones:
  • AFAIK = as far as I know
  • IMV = in my view
  • LMAO = laughed my @ss off
  • PMSL = p*ssed myself laughing
  • WYSIWYG = what you see is what you get

Vehicle/MH ones:
  • PVC = panel van conversion
  • MAM = maximum authorised mass (ie maximum allowed weight of MH) ... aka MTPLM ... also occasionally Mummy when she tells you that you've had your share!!!!
  • MIRO = Mass in Running Order (weight of MH with minimum stuff required to propel the vehicle, eg oil, fuel)
  • ULW = Unladen weight, MH empty of all stuff usually in it's original trim as produced by the manufacturer

OK here's a few more I can think of:

EHU = electric hook-up (230 volt AC but available current varies from 5 amp to 16 amp depending on sites. Overloading the EHU causes a power cut and annoys your neighbours)

LHD = left hand drive (see also RHD)

ER = elevating roof (on many campervans, and optional on some PVCs too)

RV = recreational vehicle, also shorthand for American motorhome

5th Wheel = articulated variant of caravan, towed using a swivel on the bed of a pickup truck

Demountable = removable habitation module transported on a pickup truck

INOP = stopped working, and may be about to go FUBAR (see above)

IMO = in my opinion (or IMHO if feeling somewhat humble)

FAOD = for the avoidance of doubt (not to be confused with FOAD which is very insulting)

ASAP = as soon as possible

DPF = diesel particulate filter (expensive and troublesome eco-crap)

EGR = exhaust gas recirculation (ditto)

Adblu = fancy name for p*ss which makes your MH go into limp mode when it runs out

Tugger = affectionate (?) slang word for caravanner

Camping-car = French for motorhome, noun (m)
