A41 Chambery to Geneva - outrageous toll

We’ve just been charged 21€ each way to travel from Chambery to Geneva return . Any ideas why it’s so horrifically expensive for a relatively short hop?

60 miles or so in a part of France where alternatives are not really an option I guess

Is it quite new? I remember when the Le Mans section opened it became the most expensive section in France per km

Thinking about it a little more, presumably you paid the first leg before opting to return the same way ?
