Pulled into a Tesco Extra petrol station outside Middlesbrough to top up for the journey home, thought I’d use pay at the pump so got out the club card, turned back to the van, waited for the pump to zero ,hand on trigger THEN realised the nozzle was in the WATER inlet !!!!
thankfully I hadn’t pulled the trigger but as soon as I got home ordered a replacement filler cap in a different colour to the van and obviously a different key!
who on earth thought it was a good idea to have the same key for lockers, gas, fuel and water 😠

Yikes!
On my van the fuel filler is on the opposite side of the van to the water. And the cover is totally different, plus the water filler cap locks separately. That said I've still heard anecdotal tales of people with similar vans having the water tanks filled with fuel...

Over 50 years ago when I was working in a garage, a Humber came onto the forecourt to fill with petrol, some smart designer had come up with the idea of the petrol filler behind the round reflector, but the forecourt attendant removed the wrong reflector and filled the boot with petrol, he only noticed when it started running out onto the floor. Oops 🥺🥺
