Don't know how old it is but it has apparently been in the garage since the late 90s i put my tester on it and it showed 11.9v
it one you can top up with distilled water was just covering the plates so put sum distilled water in them
So i have stuck it on a charge and will put it on the battery tester tomorrow if it us nothing lost but if its good to go it will do to light the boat while i am working on it when i get a bit better

I do find it difficult to believe its held that much charge for 20 plus years.
Once charged put a known load.... 60watt headlamp bulb is 5 amps....on it and see how long before its down to 12v...50% discharged.

since 2004. Tugger 10 years on and off
I'm still on the original starter battery on my 2004 motorhome. I bought new in 2004 so I would guess it's at least 2003.Still fires up with no problems.

All these examples different to OP's
These ones being used but apparently OP's example has been lying in a garage UNUSED for all those years!!!!
Very different scenario

No known history is where we're at for Wildbill's battery. Though doing nothing for years was the 1st mention...

Well its bubbling away on all cells no heat in the battery and a good reading on the meter
will leave it another 24 hrs to get rid of the sulfate on the plates'
It's getting nearly 15v charge 14.95 v that will convert any sulfate back to sulfuric acid or sum of it any way the longer i leave it the better it will get

Even if it doesn't hold a lot of charge if it's free and can power some LEDs for a while it's still a good bonus.
