Hello everybody
We are (hopefully) about to buy a secondhand Hymer B584.
The one we are looking at has an air con unit in the living area (nice).
Just one question - Can these units be run whilst you are driving?

No or at least I've never seen one that does, on hookup only

Possibly, the Waeco units came in two flavours, mains only or with a big inverter to allow it to run from the alternator. If you have the AC/DC version be aware it puts a large load on the alternator of around 100 amps for a 1500 Watt unit (could be more if a higher wattage AC unit is fitted).
