Are the electrical hook ups the same as the UK or will I need an adaptor?

We have only once in 12 years of travelling needed an adapter for the EHU. I wouldn’t bother.
You do of course need adapters for sockets in toilet blocks for hair dryers etc.

You will need to carry an adaptor like this

As well as an adapter like the above do be aware that most sites won’t have 16amp hookup like the U.K.
Particularly in France they are often 6amp and sometimes less.
Enough for charging batteries and running the fridge but no good for large electric kettles or heating.

We've only needed to use an adapter a handful of times but I wouldn't travel without one just in case. They're dead cheap to buy anyway.

We have had the same experience, always carried a EHU adapter and only used it a couple of times in the 12 years we been going abroad.

I made that mistake, just once ... At a campsite in the Pyrenees after arriving in the pouring rain, with mature reflection on how useful the adaptor would have been ... And how it could have avoided the smug look on the frenchman's face when he asked if we wanted to borrow his ...

It takes a lot of that there Pan Ache to accept the offer with dignity and without the gritted teeth being on display ...

The adaptors travel with us on every trip now, especially the version with the reverse polarity wiring to save the proctological ache of dismantling other adaptors!

I would also think about a reverse polarity adapter
#48 above. Now an inispensible part of the kit for European trips! Part of the reason for having so much 'other sundry crap' licking around is the spare room is the result of having to trawl hypermarkets, ferreteria, Chinese shops etc for materials/tools to make running repairs to things that get trodden on, dropped, blow fuses and all the other 'how on earth did that happen?' episodes that a moment's thought/switching off the stupidity meter could have avoided ...

'Well, I didn't want to disturb you, so I thought I'd just lean over you ...' 'Oops, the drawer handle just come away, and seems to have some of the drawer front still attached ...' was amongst the most challenging.
