We're currently staying at the Falkensteiner site in Zadar. Something tells me it's owned by ze Germans!
Hiding from the imminent thunder storm drinking Amaretto fizz, instead of the usual Aperols.

Since April 1846 but have always camped.
It surprised me, but we have quite a few over here in Lanzarote.
Obviously they never need to hibernate and only come out at night.
Haven't seen a live one for ages they are usually road kill.

Old and new. Fishing boats at Omis. In the background the half built road bridge, with no supports. Looks like it'll break any moment.

One a bit nearer.

That tree looks like a Spanish chestnut Barry ?
Not sure Graeme, the 'fruit' looked like conkers but were hairy rather than spikey.
The glossy leaves looked like rhododendron, but obviously weren't.

Edit...Looks like you are correct....

Broken Link Removed

The tree, along with other "different" species was in the grounds of the rather splendid looking Ardgarten Hotel, owned by Lochs & Glens Holidays.

We were going to call in for a pint but it was full of old folk! ::bigsmile:

That’s cool.
We stopped at a place in NZ nicknamed The Bra Fence in Bradrona, with thousands of bras hanging up.

Apparently it started off as a local gesture to support Breast cancer charities. The local authorities objected and wanted the initial meagre offering removed but the locals dug in and it became news. After a week or so it attracted so much support that it just became overwhelming and the authority caved in.

No puns intended… much.
