Drove almost 4 miles from home for this day out on Caldbeck Common!

Spent a peaceful day walking, eating & lazing about. We never spoke to another soul, ( except a quick hello to passing cyclists) and then watched the thunder clouds roll in towards evening.

The hills are amongst the northernmost in the Lake District, including Skiddaw.

Arrived at this aire View attachment 643463by the river Somme this morning. This is a propeller and bomb from a Lancaster bomber that was dug up here in 1998.(Our Bessie is in the background)

That looks like Long Aire , nice spot that, been a few times.

Love watching sparrows - they queue up on the shed roof ridge tiles to pick insects out of the honeysuckle.
