8.1m today. Very cold, with a biting NW wind, but some lovely sunshine. Here's the route if anyone is interested.
Nice stroll to start before the uphill begins.
Not sure what the sign means, but a nice, if neglected, Herald to compensate.
Heading up, with views back across Wensleydale into the sun.
Our target for the day. Pike Hill. Unfortunately no decent path along the edge, but there is a decent grouse track across the top.
The view West, Cotterdale I think. The great thing about hillwalking at this time of year is the low light, it really brings the hillside to life.
The moles in Yorkshire know to stay in their lane!
A shakehole beside the track.
Heading down now, looking back towards Hawes.
Down into the valley, I don't think this wall gets much sunlight!
Some of the falls above Hardraw Force, not much volume in the river today.
And into the Green Dragon, managed to snag a table after a bit of a wait.
Unfortunately the Landlord was a bit green. Never mind, more choice tonight at the White Hart for our NYE dinner!
Final stretch along the Pennine Way, then back to the site for lots of tea, cheese and crackers (Wensleydale of course), and mincemeat flapjack!

It's a lovely part of the country.
Don't do the long walks nowadays but do go around the area on the bike. Love it.

Shorter low-level walk today, after a late morning and early van lunch. 5.8m from the Hawes CAMC.

I walked this 30 years ago, but there is only a few parts that stick in the mind. This isn't one of them
Approaching Appersett, an old lime kiln beside the road.
The Appersett viaduct.
It's a shame you can't access the old railway. I'm surprised the National Park haven't turned it into a trail.
More Yorkshire moles. They certainly like their straight lines!

Fading light, late yesterday afternoon between Abercastle and Trefin, Pembrokeshire. 10 minutes later got caught in a blustery hail shower!
Not something you get everyday here, fog.

Thank you thank you thank you Dubai Dry Docks, one Gov entity that made me shed loads of money, starting with the scaffolding but bigger with my construction company................and most of all with my contracts manager brother R.I.P Ian.
At one point i had 100s of guys working in here.
Bikers Cafe, these 2 are a his and hers pair
Proper beasties
This is more up my street nowadays.
A little beach villa designed i think by a wedding cake maker.
How bad does that look.
And finally
If i go down town i'll get some of The Burj Khalifa, meanwhile The Burj Al Arab...............again
