I'm a bit confused as to the side cupboard under the window, that has a lift top with small storage in the top.
Why is it so large, but only has small storage in top ? surely a wasted space ?

Here's one, but different to mine in the B544.

Also has anyone good tips on where to store maps in the driving area apart from the top of the dash ? HY13_B778SL_I_Detail_Leder_Kiesel_1_0.jpg

I have a 2005 B524. The base of the cupboard you describe lifts out to reveal the EBL99 which takes up most of any usable space below the cupboard. The top of my 'cupboard' slides to open.

One on my passenger side even narrower than the B class and the base is only 4" deep even though the space under it goes all the way to the floor. Apparently they fit the media unit down there if you order it.

What's a map?

:groan: Sometimes I despair of the younger generation :banghead:.

A diagrammatic representation of an area of land showing physical features, cities, roads, etc.

A two-dimensional representation of the positions of stars or other astronomical objects.

A diagram or collection of data showing the spatial arrangement or distribution of something over an area.

Something that is always just a bit too big to fit the space in which you would like it reside.

So last century. I remember seeing one somewhere ;)

You forgot to add:

A map is a point of constant dissent between driver and partner, the former wishing to religiously follow it, the latter choosing to deviate the route so that shops can be passed on the way

It is a standard Hymer fitting. In mine it sits on top of the gas bottle compartment, which is accessible from outside. Not much wasted space as far as I can see in mine. But the one in your photo seems not to have the gas bottle space there. If there was storage space underneath I can't see how it would be accessed very well given that the swivel seat is in the way.

Are you sure that is correct? I thought the media centre went behind the side facing seat behind the swivel seat.

My old system seemed to work well. OH is a brilliant navigator, I mean that sincerely. On our next big trip we will have just OH and one SatNag; previously though it was two SatNag's and OH with maps, books, guides and intuition. This worked well as for the most part the SatNags got it right (or was that left o_O), and OH argued with both leaving me in peace (y).

On my rhd B544 the gas locker is below the drivers storage locker which presumably limits storage depth.

On my long gone 584 the electroblock unit sat there but bags of dead space below where I stored a trolley jack.

One more thing to remember as per your thread title is that in Hymer's design concept this is not meant to be the driver's cupboard ; it is meant to be used by the passenger. (y)
