Hello to you all,

My wife and I have been happy caravaners for some years and enjoyed every minute, even when clouded in midges in the far north of Scotland.

However, this year, returning from Spain through France (without the van) we could not help noticing the arrangements made by even small towns and villages for motorhome owners. We have never fancied taking a caravan onto the continent, but like the idea of a motorhome. We are now light of pocket but richer by owning a Carthage Chic I51 and can't wait for the new season to start, hopefully our fist trip will be in January.

Looking forward to getting the most out of Motorhome Fun and our new hobby.

Congratulations Freddy & Betty, great choice of van and for choosing the best fun forum. Welcome from just up the road Winchester.

Did you for a left hand drive given your continental yearnings or are you staunchly British, keeping a right hooker?

All the best.

Thanks everyone once again for the tremendous welcome.

In answer to a couple of questions, we are buying our van from a local dealer in Portsmouth and yes, with the continent in mind we opted for a left hand drive. We will probably do as much driving within the UK, but I wanted Betty to have a go and we both think it will be much easier on the continent to have a left had drive. Time will tell. Betty has already had a quick test drive and we are planning to attend a local driving course so that we don't mess up straight away.

Freddy & Betty

We bought our Knaus Sky from Southdown Motorcaravans and have found them to be very good. Most of our travels will be UK based so we opted for a right hooker but will suffer when we get across the ditch. Enjoy your motorhome and hope to see you on site soon. Make sure you get your Motorhome fun sticker so we can spot you.
Enjoy! :clap2:
