Very nearly time for Launch Part One...

Going to give it a try out without the engine first...

If all goes well, then engine test this afternoon.

Hope that you have done a complete H&S risk assessment and have the necessary safety boat, paramedics etc on hand:)

20 secs on the water with the oars (OARS not who***) proved to me that the dinghy was as stable as Vinnie Kompany...

so I fuelled up the engine and fitted it to the transom (even getting the lingo now).

Rowed out off shore a bit so as not to disturb anyone and fired her up.

(10 pulls... not been started for over a year.)

Off I went...

Brilliant!

OMG!

I missed it ALL.

I thought you were winding me up but I just checked... can it get better than this?

Yes... they can announce City have signed Kevin De Bruyne...

JJ

I missed the first 9 wickets.

I was doing some work at home and suddenly remembered at about 12.20 that the cricket was on.

I had to do a double take at 50-9:D

We decided to go and investigate Mimizan today.

A straight forward journey of 40 odd kms.

Called in at a HUGE E. Leclerc supermarket which allowed me to restock my fresh milk supply and my croissants.

I was treated to a McDees lunch and we both made use of their wi-fi.

Headed on to look for an aire and ended up nearly in the sea, in a carpark, fronted by a funfair.

Max's brake fluid warning light had come on, so a guy was called and he brought out some brake fluid and spotted a very slight leak, maybe from a brake pipe joint. This will be monitored carefully.

Neither of us were very taken by the crowds of happy, sea side folk so we went back up the road a bit to check out this aire...

There was nothing near by... no shops, no cafes, no nothing... and it would set us back €7.50 each per night. (€15!)

We drove back to the side of the lake where we started the day from... the "beach" was completely empty...

Totally FREE here.

Tomorrow might be Eco Museum day.

Might be a lounge around and swimming day.

Time will tell.

Sounds as if you are both having a great time. I love boating but don't get to do it. Nice to have the weather too eh?

The thing about Rufty Tufty Off-Site parking is lots of folk do it!

Our little parkup has been visited by the youth!

They seem to have decided it will be a good stop over place on their way to where ever they are heading! (Next festival I guess.)

20150810_172137.jpg

I had to smile when they brought out two big pots with plants growing in them and put them out so they would catch the sun!

20150810_172127.jpg

Oh you terrible Funsters. What sort of plants did you lot think they were?

Frankie tells me they are tomato plants!

We are poised to move if needed. At the moment our little "spot" is protected by people's cars but we fear that when these folk go home they will move in their vehicles into the space and we will be in the middle of a mini-festival... man.

Well.

We have had a fabulous (very hot) afternoon at the Eco Museum, Sabres.

You start by taking a train 4 kms to the "site".

20150811_132741.jpg

Then you wander around visiting various buildings of the old days and listening to talks on stuff like making medicine from plants and herbs and soap making etc.

20150811_141034.jpg

20150811_152221.jpg

...and as we are going to visit a castle tomorrow and Frankie wants some electricity, a campsite (municipal) on the banks of the river was found at La Reole was found.

(At least I don't have far to go to dump my rubbish!)

Another exceptional day!

Left municipal site and got to the Castle at Roquetaillade by 1pm.

20150812_133040.jpg

What a superb place. We joined the one hour tour...

20150812_134336.jpg

20150812_134411.jpg

After we had returned to the vans and were having a little rest, a Funster drove by (by chance) and stopped to say "hello".

20150812_153820.jpg

Mr Frentchy... (aka Andy).

And after finding the French Passion place we had planned to stay at tonight unsuitable, we have ended up at his son (Stuart) and daughter in law's (Sabine) campsite in Villandrault...

Yes I know, I know... 2 in 2 days!

My go today to talk about our little tour in the wines area..... I bet this will keep you interested!!!

But first let's go back to where we were just before moving on to this wine place....
We left Arjuzanx 's lake.... a very protected area where engines are NOT allowed:rolleyes: ....
Mise à jour du 13 aout 2015 062.JPG

.......and head to a very close aire, centre town of Morcenx, to dump and fill up. This aire is quite big and the dumping service is really good, clean and easy!
We met a very nice man when doing our chores who happens to have just bought a multi services shop.
We had a great chat with him, and we might have convinced him to sell English sausages and bacon in his new to him shop. He's got my mobile phone number and is supposed to let us know ..... You might have soon a place to go and fill up your fridge with your favourite food!;)(y)

We then left Morcenx and as JJ has narrated you, we had a smashing day out at the Eco Museum. Highly recommended!
First for the enjoyable little trip in the old train... You 're just waiting for the cow boys to suddenly turn up and go bang bang bang with their guns!!!! Kids will love it , and shall I need to add ? Even the oldies enjoy it ...Smily faces looking out the windows of the old carriages.....

Mise à jour du 13 aout 2015 073.JPG

And second, for the things you discover from the old times. Medicines herbs, decoctions, essential oils, the odd soap, and as well the legend of Cyclopes eating kids..... BOO!
Mise à jour du 13 aout 2015 080.JPG

OK .... This one is not the one ...he's got both eyes , even if you can't see them.... Now does he eat kids??....:censored:

Eco Museum has an inside restaurant and an open bar where you can have a snack or a drink and smoke. No ciggy allowed on the whole site ! You can easily understand how dangerous it can be in a forest!
After that fantastic time, we set our sat nav onto La Réole. A small village where we found that little Municipal campsite by the river bank.
Small one but peaceful. Not many showers but clean. I didn't use any other facility but had a quick look and really quite fine for a few nights. Price for 2 (only one with electric) was a bit less than 20 euros.
You also have an aire not far from there but NO EU there.

Next day ...off to the castle of Roquetaillade!
Will you believe it? ....At last I found where HE has hidden all his Money..... Prince of QMJ ? Yeah right ... Call him Vicomte de Roquetaillade!!!

Mise à jour du 13 aout 2015 100.JPG

That's where we met Frentchy (Andy) and now, here we are.... at his son's campsite!

Nice and friendly place in the middle of all these brilliant different wines Châteaux !
You like Sauternes? White and fruty? You like the Graves Red wine , you like Bordeaux wines in general?
Make this place your main stopover and go and visit all around, you can have at least a whole week here testing and enjoying your favourite drink!!

Stuart (Andy's son) and Sabine, his very active wife hold this charming place , which has good size pitches , a snack bar open nearly all day (July and August that is) and a very welcoming staff ... and what would we do without a smile hey?
The pool is open non stop , so you can enjoy a dip whatever the time, day or night!
Here a few pics

Now .... time to eat , better call the Mighty Boss
