I had one of these fitted in the place of a double socket in the van this week. It has an additional couple of USB sockets for charging phones etc.

From Screw fix, it was about £8.

They're very neat but only work of course if you're on hookup - fine if you like /need to be on sites with that. Fit the USB sockets that connect to the 12v system and they'll always be available.

WE have done that but we used a single 240v socket with double sockets
but we are also installing a double USB on the 12v system direct from the batteries (fused link of course)

very useful those USB socket/240v plugs when you are on hookup

I’ve got one of those too, and it comes in very useful. I can switch the power between EHU and PSW inverter on this twin socket, but usually use USBs direct from the 12V supply. I also noticed your 12V socket which is a much better arrangement than the cigar lighter type (providing your 12V thing has the right plug, of course!)

When buying these mains sockets with USB adapters built in please ensure you don't buy the cheap chinese ones. Some are known to pass mains level voltage to the USB socket.
This is especially dangerous in a van where you may plug into a supply with a reversed live/neutral line.

If I were looking for one of these I would only buy from a reputable trade supplier and only buy well known brands such as MK.

Oh, and while I am at it. Don't buy chinese rechargable lanterns. They have a similar issue.
