This my DIY tracker.
Amazon product ASIN B075L5NJJYHidden somewhere, has 3-4 month battery life. Sends a text when battery gets low. I then attach a USB battery charger pack (via hidden/obfuscated cable) to recharge it for next 3-4 months.
All controlled via SMS text, including geofence/location/speed etc etc
Definitely not insurance-approved, but cheap and easy for me.
(Just checked and I recharged it 2nd Dec and battery is currently 50% even in this cold weather)

The big issue with all the cheap sim based trackers is the ease of blocking the signal and finding them. Cheap devices on ebay to block phone signals and others to detect any device broadcasting

They give a false sense of security, as the bad guys know how to deal with them in seconds and don't stop the vehicle being stolen

I am not sure its that big an issue that some criminals know how to get around it.
It £60 quid and it might warn me if someone moves my MH - what's not to like?
Its not like I am leaving it unlocked because I have put a tracker in!
Its illegal to sell and to use a jammer in the UK so anyone buying or selling on ebay will be of interest to the authorities.
Its cheap and easy so why not, is my view.
Criminals know how to get around all keyless car systems, anyone ever buy a keyless car?

I have equipment that will jam any Tracking system or alarm that has a SIM in it

It never used to be a problem, now we pay less than £60 when we buy and test these devices

This is why I recommend that unless you need GPS/GSM/VHF tracking as a condition of Insurance save your money

Also why we favour our Non Starter system

eddievanbitz Interesting. How do you use the jammers in the context of UK law?

That obviously remains a trade secret. However, we do have to test equipment, and we have been in discussion with the powers that be for some time about the Insurance industries ridiculous blind faith in Tracking systems
