Had some old building trestles hanging around and over winter extended them to clear frount of bonnet.
Cable tide ladder on and a plank of wood.
No more hanging off ladder with finger tips and tip toes.

Seems a good way of doing it. I've got a scaffold tower, was using that yesterday to get up to my roof to change a skylight dome, and then give the roof a wash.
