Hi All,
since us 'going all green and hippie like' here, with the nearly finished solar install an'all, we are now after a good, reasonably priced 12volt, 19inch TV/DVD/USB/Freeview combo.

We've been using a 24inch flat screen combo for some time now, but it's 240v. We have a really good Avtex 12v but that is just a TV, and only 15inch and not DVD/Freeview,,,,,,,,,,,, so looking for recommendations.

Seen a Finlux LED on ebay for around the £160 mark, but not too sure as on line, can't see or touch - what else is available that's half decent.

What have you got?

Regards,

Trikeman. :winky:

Hi Kev if hou have a look in your local ASDA you'll se a 19 " That suits your needs for under £100. Polaroid is the make and they do a full range of sizes however the 19" is a 12 v with the brick in the lead.
You can pop in see and touch it check out quality, guarantee etc.
Not sure about USB !

Thanks Vlad - will have a gander in Asda.
I know they say a lot of the cheaper ones sound tinny, I can understand why but our old girl has sound surround throughout the van so sound quality I'm not too worried about - picture, yep like a good picture.

Thanks,

Trikeman. :winky:

Hi Andy,

thanks for the links - looks a good deal there.:thumb:

Here is the link to the £160 Finlux which does look expensive next to your link.

I will be looking in Asda tomorrow, but I am drawn towards the Finlux. I would like to wall mount in the MoHo so will be looking for a good bracket too. Our Avtex (TV only) was wall mounted, but our 240v TV/DVD stood on its stand so had to put it away every time to move off.

Again, thanks for the links.

I got a Tesco Tecnika for about 80 quid. Most cheap TVs come with a 12V brick that can just be bypassed.

Vision is pretty good. Sound is passable. Internal DVD drive lasted about a month, but I didn't really care, as I just run a cheap Blu-ray drive instead off the HDMI, shared with a little netbook I had lying about unused which now lives in a cupboard with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Checked out Asda but none in stock locally so ordered the Finlux 19inch 240/12v TV/DVD/Freeview combo and what a cracking bit of kit for the money - came this morning, ordered from Finlux direct.:thumb:
Comes with 240v plug lead etc and the 12v lead that plugs direct into the aux socket. The picture is excellent and the sound is decent for smaller TV. Came with stand but ours is going on a swivel wall bracket.
If you want to order the 12v specific, order the DM version as this comes with the 240v and fused 12v cable also - 12v not in the D version, just supplied with the 240v.
Good recommendation Andy.:thumb:

We no longer bother recording or playing back from a hard drive so we use the USB socket to feed this IR remote repeater to control the Bush HD Freesat box out of sight.
