Hi everyone, I’m getting an A-Frame and am concerned at the possible stone chip damage that could come to the towed car bonnet/front. I think a car bonnet cover is the answer but the only firm I’ve found that supplies them is Autobra but they don’t do the latest VW Up model. The only alternative is to have a skirt fitted but not sure how effective this would be. Anyone else had this problem?

if you are concerned about stone chips then a bonnet cover will only reduce around 50% of the potential damage the bumpers would still get the chips.

so a skirt of some description on the motorhome might be the option.

plenty on fleabay..

I fitted a dirt skirt to mine and no stone chips on my toad , either effective or lucky but I fitted the same on previous RVs with the same result.

Another option is to have the bonnet and any other areas you need protecting with a wrap or diy clear pvc sheeting
like fablon.

Thanks. I think Towbars 2 tow cars ‘hoodie’ would have been the most effective but they will only supply one if the A-Frame is theirs. Am now thinking a skirt might be the answer.

We toad a fiat 500, and I've never noticed any stone chips on our vehicle (No bra or cover fitted).

Pics please when fitted X kind regards Kate
Yes sure . I will definately. Ordered yesterday after being on here looking at this and thought ....Bugger it ...I will get one and be done with it!! Got fed up with the white paintwork looking like its been shot blasted ......lol. It all washes off but its a pain when you have to do it whilst on site .
I prefer the cover over the large flaps or brush flap idea to be honest. Always think the flaps are meant for RV's ?

That looks just the job. You must have some previous experience in this! Ever thought of going into mass production?!

Got our cover from Towbars 2 Towcars too, for the Toyota Aygo. Fits perfect, takes 5 ninutes to put on.
Did you have the A Frame them also? I’m on the lookout for one for our Abarth TOAD, but the A Frame was done by LnB in Bristol.

Our VW Up seems to have survived without a cover, does get very dirty sometimes. Motorhome has flaps on all wheels and a fair rear overhang.

I was wondering if the paint on the car would get scratched with a cover on? I ask as if the cover is put on and the cover and or the bonnet is not completely clean, as the covers will move slightly with the wind, does it rub the paint work?

I don’t cover mine, just have a dirt skirt on rear of motorhome. Only time there’s a problem is when it’s really wet so I just hose or rinse off with watering can on arrival.

Same here, we tow a white Abarth and don’t notice many chips on the front that wouldn't be there from using the car day to day as we do.
