This guy probably just got blown from across the Med - to an aire on the south coast of France

The praying mantis is very much a French resident, Bill - quite common here in the south-west. A friend has had one resident in her polytunnel for the past couple of months. She called him Steve - but he's now produced an egg sack.... 🙂

We stopped on the Aire at St Germaine de la Coudre in 2018, and had these for neighbours - the circus was in town

Funniest experience we had was some years back on the racecourse last Great Yarmouth with the Caravan Club. Told on arrival that the races were still on but park near that white railing over there the man said. As we were having tea there was a pounding of hooves as the horses passed by within a few feet of us. We also had an instance of a chicado (like a large grasshopper and well camouflaged) inside the van which decided to start chirping late one night. Ever had one had close quarters you will know what I mean when it took us an hour to find it and escort it off the premises.

We have a man in Tewkesbury who takes his tortoise for a walk regularly down the busy high street where people give him/her water and treats. And yes, he carrys a poop bag!
Does it walk to slough?

Hi, Abacist
I must admit I had to step back when I saw it , had to switch to zoom on camera as didn,t want to get too close
It looks an adult adder but how long was it? They don't come as big as grass snakes.

Met this "beast" on a French Aire (Cordes sur Ciel) in 2014. English guy with a Belgium wife I believe and they used to "buy and sell" at different Brocantes/antique fairs around France. He said when they acquired the pig they were told it was a "small one" but it kept on growing! He has made a ramp so that it can get in and out of the van. It is the van with the wooden high chair at the rear. (Not sure about his payload) Allegedly it is house trained so always "asks" to go out. I did say to the guy 'what about the smell?" and he said the pig has got used to it!! boom boom.
