What if there was a viable way to solve the problems that we have with poor quality roads and potholes?

What if there was a way that that we could also solve the plastic epidemic that we all live through today? Waste plastic in our landfill sites takes hundreds and sometimes thousands of years to degrade. A recent study warns that discarded plastic garbage in our oceans could outweigh fish by 2050 if nothing is done.

What if we could manufacture a plastic pellet made from used plastic rubbish and mix it with the bitumen that is used on our roads?

It has already been done by www.macrebur.com. Roads laid or repaired using their product have been tested and proved to be
  • up to 60% stronger than regular asphalt
  • up to 10 times longer lasting and they don’t pothole.

Can you see any disadvantages?

Of course, we could just leave the roads as they are and make a feature of the potholes, like this: -

My only concern, maybe unjustified, is no mention in the video of coefficient of friction. My totally unscientific worry is that plastic, no matter how processed, is 'slippery'. There must be more to the process than mixing plastic granules and tar?

Edit: now viewed the first link. The plastic is used as a bitumen additive and doesn't replace gravel as the base material.
