Please see the photos.
The top back on my Rapido 640 appears to have been made in two parts . I thought it was a crack at first , but it definitely looks like two pieces the edges are too perfect for a crack .
Anyone come across this before ?
Should I take it to the dealer or just fill it with mastic ?
My big concern is I don't know what it is covering and am worried about the possibility of rain getting in.

You would have thought that there would be the same joint on the near side of the moulding if it was meant to be there..
Is there any indication of a similar joint at the same distance along from the nearside?

Just found the below image on the web but the 'join' is in a different place. Is your MH new or second hand? I'm just wondering if it's had damage on that corner in the past and rather than replace the whole thing they've just changed the end bit?

The photos of one Southdowns was selling doesn't appear to have a "joint" at all.

We had very fancy moulding along the length on our 2012 Bessacarr. I understand it was purely decorative and the side/roof panels underneath were joined and sealed so no impact on water integrity unless the inner seals went.

Yes, they are pretty much cosmetic (other than the brake light) but I'd still like to know why there's a crack/break in the moulding as I don't think it should be there unless something has caused it, ie a fault or it's been damaged and bodged/repaired.

I don't think that's a joint, the edge looks slightly curved.

My Rapido 646 has no joins in the top moulding - I would say its a crack or has been badly repaired at some point.

That is definitely a joint.
Absolutely not possible for it to crack so clean, straight and precisely.
If it was a crack the edges would be jagged.
I would stick so none setting mastic in it and forget it's there

You are not the first person to have this problem.

Just as an aside, I notice that the letter “i” is not complete on the decal.
Has is rubbed off or fallen off, or has their been a repair to that short section and a “ non-original” manufacturers part used with a similar decal made by the repairer and applied.
Also, The two top edges are not level, possibly suggesting a repair?
Either way, a lovely van.👍

I also noted that but more importantly is the raised lettering on the rear. I don't think I've ever seen any Rapido MHs with rear raised lettering there, just painted.

It definitely points to a repair of some sort in the past.

Yes, I agree.
I was trying to think of what that type of decal was called, and I think its called “gell lettering”. Slightly spongy to touch, almost padded.

The letter "I " fell of when I was polishing it last week . Must get round to sticking it back on . As far as I know the van has never been damaged ( yes I know dealers lie ! ) so I think I will go with the non setting mastic solution & keep an eye on it 👁️‍🗨️ . Thanks all for your help :clap2::clap2:
