Hey y'all

Anyone replaced the curtain around the drop down bed at the front of an A class?

Who did you use?

Thanks

Yes did a refit on our Hymer and had a new one made.
Local lady that used to make curtains did it for us, needs a heavy duty machine as the needle has to go through the Nylon.
Unfortunately I dont think she would make another one.

If you have a pattern take it to your local re-upholsterer. They will have heavy material and a heavy duty sewing machine.

If you take them off to wash can they be put up easily enough? The track mine is in looks so stiff I don’t think I’d manage but maybe we are doing it wrong?

Shrimp re-did our Hymer one , she just ( I say just but it wasn’t that easy) cut and sewed a suitable sheet over the original curtain.

Yes, it wasn’t the nicest of sewing jobs.
I did use a cream bed sheet as it didn’t cost the earth.
I used the original ‘curtain’ as a pattern and made it in 3 parts) remember the ‘curtain‘ must be wider at the bottom than the top) which I then sewed to the original material just below the nylon runner with a small upstand to hide the nylon runner.
The small bits of nylon at the base of the ‘curtain’-I sewed the sheet material to the original material by hand it was the easiest way.
I used ordinary cotton and a Zipper sewing foot on my electric machine, the zipper foot meant that I could get close to the nylon runner.
To get the ‘curtain’ off the ‘rail’ it clips out from one end then just pull it away, to reattach just press it firmly back into the ‘rail’. It won’t slide thru it has to be pushed into the ’rail’ all the way around!
Good luck!

Not replaced, but we did sent it off to a seamstress friend, who renewed all the elastic, thereby giving it a new lease of life. (y)

Are you saying that the movement of the curtain hooks along the track are stiff? If so, a spray of the track with silicone will do the trick. (y) Removing and refitting the curtain to the track can be labour intensive.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I took off mine and washed ... I know what you mean by stiff track it is solid and you have to press cleaned one back in same slot, I have a brain injury and the small things that get me, like tying my laces of fiddling with Chihuahua clothes, my goal this year is to learn how to use the sewing machine I got for 30 pounds on gumtree 10 years ago... this is happening, but I don't think im at the I take orders stage just yet... but if I source someone I will share.

Yes, it’s not a curtain track with hooks but a double track you need to press the curtain back into somehow. I’m frightened to remove mine as I’m not sure I’ve got the strength to rein put.
