Hi all, has anybody ever fallen foul of overstaying the 90 day limit in Europe?
The regulations state no more than 90 days in any 180 period!!!

No they don't.

Do you mean Europe (the continent, made up of 53 countries including the UK) or the European Union (a political club consisting of just 28 out of the 53 countries in Europe)?

90 consecutive days in any one EU country is the rule - there is plenty of info and posts here on this subject if you look for them

It's 90 cumulative days in any 190 within the Schengen area
, not any E U country or you could just border skip

44 days in eu. then 90 days or 89 in maroc or tunisia . then finish time in eu to get back to uk. mind you could carry on in africa or go east . there is always ways round things .
or apply for a longer visa .

Yes for you & always has been.
90 consecutive days & you are automatically a Spanish resident. Regardless of the fact that you haven't registered. Yes you might have been doing it for years & no one is bothered but in the unfortunate event of something occurring bringing you to the attention of officialdom then the roof could fall in.

There are one or two other factors to consider re the 90 days away. For example there is the question of occupancy of your home with regard to your house insurance, your travel insurance re the duration of a single trip, and finally your registration at your GP in the UK which technically entitles the GP to strike you off, if you're out of the country for more than 3 months.

Property has a tenant,single trip travel insurance (Back packers) policy and doctor never questioned me on my travel arrangements between appointments.
