90 day plus van insurance

I have an Irish passport so we can stay in the EU longer than the 90 day period (moving countries before the 90 mark) but our motorhome insurance company are saying that the van is only covered for the 90 days in 180.

I thought that rule was for people not inanimate objects.

Does anyone know if this is correct or a solution please.

I'd change insurance company.

We use Saga. They are happy with us being away for 270 days.
