I'm a newbie and always will be. You never know it all.
Hi Brakers,
I found myself in a similar position in 2020, (my 70th bye the way is the day after yours) I decided that the best thing to do was to downsize then and try to recoup some of the value of the old M/H. I do find it very tight on pay load but it is not insurmountable, my intentions, had Covid not popped up shortly after I purchased the new M/H to do a paper exercise and up plate it until I took the medical.

If I passed the medical the theory was nothing was lost If I failed then a paper exercise to down plate again.

Of course Covid has conspired against me ::bigsmile: to ensure the anniversary of my motorhomes "Not turning a wheel celebration" is next week on the 28th of March.:giggler:

Living the dream.
I do find it rather strange, and not particularly clever, that folk can be stopped from driving a 3850 van on a Monday, but drive a 3500 van on tuesday. What difference will 350 make...bugger all. The powers that be will say there has to be a cut off somewhere I suppose.
Or change to a car and caravan up to 4500kgs I believe. Total nonsense.

White van man can now drive a commercial vehicle up to 4250 tons on a "B" licence now. Why on earth can that not be extended to motorhomes?

It’s 4250KG but only with a trailer less than 750KG. Effectively to get a decent combination you have to take a B+E test which gives the ability to tow most caravans and car combinations.

Not as bad as a C1 but still a pain.
