Hundreds of posts on here about a scarcity of new and exchange cylinders and LPG at pumps since pre-pandemic days.
Various reasons suggested, including a rush of new motorhomes requiring cylinders, shortage of steel for cylinders and a shortage of tanker/distribution drivers

We have an underslung but our friends went to get one yesterday and they were scarce so they decided to get their empty spare exchanged too. Forfar, Scotland, £22. Not sure what size that would be as I’ve ni idea about bottles, hubby sees to the lpg for our heaters during the storms. they were very scarce during storm Arwen.

We managed to exchange locally and our local campsite shop also had some but neither had huge amounts. My husband was told that Calor are not going to be selling to the public directly so only through distribution in the future. Nothing on the Go Outdoor websites either which was my go to supplier. Not great for us travellers :(

Morning Michelle... I've rang round caravan parks and if you're not a caravan owner on their particular site they won't sell to you.

We are lucky as the campsite I mentioned has a retail shop attached to it thankfully they stock the 6k propane. The other retailer is a chicken feed supplier but the do Calor…weird but very handy. It’s a nightmare though.

I went to get a 13kg and 6Kg refill yesterday..

No 6Kg available and the chap said they haven’t a clue when they will get some or how many - he says you order 12 and if you get any they could number between 0 and 12..

The 13Kg refill was £52.15 :oops::oops::oops: £10.00 up on last year…

That sounds like a crazy high price.

A couple of years ago I had a single 11kg Gas-it refillable bottle with external filler professionally installed (on my drive), for just shy of £300 including a full set of continental adaptors.

The word " Profiteering " comes to mined !!

Wonder what's easier currently:
Getting a replacement 6kg Calor or getting a tank fill from an LPG pump?

Like the price of anything else take it or leave it although gaslow does tend to be more expensive and with two cylinders the changeover valve etc and more complicated fitting you'd expect to pay a fair bit more. I'd have one refillable and a backup exchange bottle.

It makes the 2 x 6kg refillables in classifieds a bargain at £270 and they are full

Although the advantage of the refillable is you can top up when you see it available
I agree...
Dilemma for exchange cylinder users... you've got about 20% left but come across an outlet with full ones in stock... do you swap?

Calor must have taken a leaf out of Coleman's mustard marketing expertise, it's the bit of mustard that's left on the side of your plate that is pure profit !

I understand but that's effectively increasing the extortionate Calor price by a further 20%.
At what level of gas would you drive on by?
Well basically if I can't get gas then my new MH is an expensive dog house !!

You'll be able to get gas... maybe not locally but maybe whilst on a trip?
Does Calor have a competitor, like we have Flogas in England?
Is there any availability across the border in NI?
Do you have room for two 6kg cylinders, maybe have one Safefill, one exchange?

Endura Gas is a Flogas stockist in Devon.
We have all sizes available for exchange or for sale if no Flogas cylinder.
