Hi everyone, im new to this site but have being camping for a number of years now. i have just retired my 89 transit. it getting past repair now. i bought a 92 merc 410d. .. hope it out lives me. im in midlands ireland. . so hello all.:thumb:

We have had a 1992 Hymer S700 since 2006. Check the chassis behind the rear axel They can appear OK but rot from the inside out. Nothing that cannot be repaired though.

We have had fan belt tensioner problems a couple of times. And now have a leak from the steering box (Power steering).

No a fast vehicle but will plod along easily at 50 to 60mph. Will pull up mountains fine.

We get on average 20mpg. The best we have achieved was 25mpg on level running in France. We are full timing in our van.

You dont say how old you are, but a 410d will last a very long time if the oil is changed at 5000 miles. So there is a good chance of it seeing you out if looked after. Mine is now 23 years young, burns no oil or water, pulls well over 5 tons and has done 170000 kms. I would be very disappointed if mine went before me as what the hell would I replace it with.
