Son asked me to give his newly acquired '08 plate Iveco Daily a service. He sourced the parts, but the fuel filter is giving me a bit of grief. He's supplied a Crossland filter element that I assumed would go inside the plastic housing (a bit like the Fiat ones that end up leaking ?) but there's no way I can get it apart, even after making an aluminium driver to fit the top cap. I'm now of the conclusion that it doesn't come apart, and you have to change the whole unit ? Does anyone know if this is the case ?

It does come apart but is bloody tight and without the correct tool, you will bugger the housing

The bottom unscrews, and as you have found can be very tight.

But he’s trying to do an Iveco 3ltr not a Fiat unit.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, the more I look at it, the more it's suggesting it's change the complete unit ? There are only two small "drive lugs" on the top of the casing, whereas most of the replacement element types have 6 lugs to suit the tool. The body is smooth and is held in the carrier by a simple plastic clamp with a single M4 securing bolt, it doesn't have the substantial two bolt mounting fixture like the one in the Landy Andy video.
I've had the body clamped in my vice and pulled on the end cap adaptor I made from a bit of ally with my 24" Stilsons and it just won't budge, it's just scoring up the filter body :( I was racing against the weather today (torrential rain now) so have just put the old filter back on and will call by the dealership tomorrow for advice.
Just found this on Italian ebay, looking like it's change the whole unit time ?
