Heading to Uig ferry tomorrow, and across to Tarbert. Looking to gently tour Harris, Lewis and then down to North South Uist and back across to Oban.

Any ideas on what to see, or avoid appreciated. Taking into account van size is 7.3m.

Avoid Stornoway, do go to Uig beach (Ardriol Grazings) , Balranald Campsite . Many other places to numerous to mention. We were a bit disappointed with Lewis. Our van is 7.0m and we had no problems .

Stop in at Skoon cafe they make lovely Scones and one will do two people. http://www.skoon.com/

There's also a small art place on Lewis where you could go in and they would teach you to paint which we didn't do but they sell nice Tea :)

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We've been for the past couple of years running, here's a link an to an album Of the first visit . It might whet your appetite. We were very lucky weather wise. And midge wise both visits. The second visit we found even more places to visit.
We managed OK in our big van ( in this album ) but found it a lot easier in our new PVC last year.

Next Thursday we are heading up to do the North Coast 500 , we are very much looking forward to it.
