We are off to Spain again, early Dec to mid March-ish. Now that the big B is possible our EHIC may no longer be valid, so we need holiday insurance (for over 70's ) for the 3 month period.
Any one with experience, we would be grateful for their advice.
Many thanks in advance.
Mitch.

Your EHIC will still be okay in Spain even with a no deal which is okay but will not get you home if needed.
LV and Avanti will quote for 3 months as will the Camping Club and Caravan Club.

Thanks Mikeco. We have ADAC Plus breakdown insurance with a bit of medical in it, but just need to be sure.

Would one of the pay to use bank accounts work for you.

You’ll get a bit of interest back as well.

Just a thought ?

Give Avanti a try we have just gone for their single long trip cover 150 days at a very reasonable cost.??

Do you happen to know which of them give up to 90 days.
I ask because Lloyds progressively reduced the cover they offered from 12 months as it was originally to the 62 days it is now.

Thanks all.
Not paying about £300, so will stick with the ADAC cover and EHIC for Spain where we will mainly be staying.
Mitch.

That’s what we will be doing, our quote from Avanti was £450 so as Spain will be allowing the EHIC to be used and as the ADAC cover is for 92 days that will do for us.

Do you know what the ADAC Plus covers. Can't translate the Ts & Cs. Thanks.

I am at the moment translating them using Google and have read them on the tablet but not managed to print them off yet so work in progress.
However as far as I can see you are covered for up to a 92 day trip in Europe for repatriation due to a sudden illness or inability to drive.

Edit. I can send you the translated version if you pm me your email address.

Nationwide Plus,,You have to pay extra though. We can do 93 days two or three times a year.BUSBY.

Am just starting to look for annual cover. Currently have 2 trips over 60 days +plus 1short trip planned in the next 12 months.
1st quote I have got is just under £400 excluding existing medical issues

I found that the extra I would have had to pay was more than flying home then flying straight back out on a new trip.

Lloyd’s do allow you to pay to add on duration - but again it used to be around £100 to add up to 124 days. This year they have “reviewed the market” and the cost went up to over £300! (These figures are for under 70 years, though.)

But what a hassle?.Think we pay about 100 quid extra on top of the 13 quid a month,,I am 74 with RA and my wife 67 with medical problems. We
do 93 days twice a year..BUSBY.

I have just renewed mine.. The medical cover alone is worth it... Total peace of mind

What about trying to get a Spainish Private health insurance?

No good if we are in France or Germany or elsewhere..BUSBY.

Hate to be a wet blanket, but the measure of a good insurance company is when you make a claim! If it is substantial they have a whole department of “claims technicians” whose sole purpose is to study the t&cs to look to avoid paying a claim.
You would need to have medical training to avoid falling foul of their technicians.
In brief, get the cheapest as they are unlikely to pay out anyway!

My Nationwide does but I was questioning if Spanish Health insurance would cover me in other countries.BUSBY.
